    You just don't get it. Beard's baggage will never allow him to be hired at Indiana. Even two of the slimiest programs (Kentucky and Louisville) passed on him... I would be really surprised if either Kansas or UNC took a shot on him. And yeah, some coaches have "scandals" in the skeleton closet, but none have been down the DV abuse road, AFAIK.

    To be fair, McCollum's team was still playing and DeVries' team's season had ended.

    I don't have the inside info to answer that one... but IMO, both DeVries and McCollum were great options, and I saw them pretty much equally qualified and equally exciting hires... and the fact that DeVries was available right now (with the portal opening looming) and McCollum was still playing and (rightly) focused on his team, DeVries said "yes" first...

    It may have come down to the fact that DeVries and WVa were done, and McCollum and Drake were still playing. Regardless, we got a really good coach, and I’m pumped for next year.

    Did I see a post here that the salary pool for the coaching staff was only $1M? Seems low for a full staff where the HC is making $5M... hopefully CDV can get that bumped up for some quality guys...
