Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
AZ Hoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Or... maybe there are other factors... like wanting to be close to home for family... Yeah, IU has been dysfunctional for 10 years or more, but the changing of the guard (Buckner/Woodson out, Dolson/DeVries in) will help that. Maybe reputation plays a role, but given the new direction and the desire to hire a "real" college coach is also a factor. Crean was streaky and at times, odd, Archie had the personality of a bag to doorknobs, Woodson was lazy and arrogant... all of that is gone... I don't think it's going to be as hard of a sell as some think it will be... DeVries has a plan, and we need to let him work that plan. He will win some and lose some, but we're gonna be ok. Coach DD has done it twice, he will do it again. -

It's going to be a bumpy ride... but we will get there... I trust Coach DeVries... he's rebuilt programs at Drake and W Virginia... so he knows what he's doing here... -
For the first 39 years of the tournament, there was no seeding. Seeding wasn't introduced until the 1978 tournament, which was the last tournament that was limited to 32 teams. For this tournament, teams with automatic bids and at-large teams were seeded separately. In the 1979 tournament, teams were seeded 1-10 in each regional bracket, and the 1979 tournament was the only one to feature 40 teams. In 1980 the tournament was expanded to 48 teams, and teams were seeded 1-12 in each geographic bracket. This continued until 1985 when the tournament was expanded to 64 teams, and eliminated byes for the top seeded teams. In 2008, for the first time in tournament history, all four #1 seeds (UNC, Kansas, Memphix and UCLA) reached the Final Four. This year, all four #1 seeds (Auburn, Florida, Duke and Houston) reached the Final Four for only the second time in tournament history.

He's 68 years old... has been here for 44 years and could be complicit in the Brad Bomba scandal (he's been named in some of the complaints). It's time to move on.

and which "DD" is he talking about? -
Ryan Holt is coming in to be the strength coach… he worked with Coach DeVries at both Drake and West Virginia…
-
Looks like Dolson is cleaning house and going for a complete fresh start... based on that, Jordan and Cheaney are gone.

Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn

MIke Woodson - the gift that keeps on giving. -
Does he still have a covid year?
-
Mike Woodson could be a two state king - King or Indiana and King of Maryland... and Armond Hill would have a job...
-
Yes, I know that... but our resident know-it-all (KathywithaC) said that this wasn't about that... RIF.
-
Nice... so Tim Garl was "Woodson-ed".
-
Thanks... looked at the dropdown on the upper right side of the page... clearly, the links haven't been updated... but glad to see CDD's page exists.
-
... or at least a profile page. And that's more than Coach DeVries has...
-
Is it the association with the Brad Bomba abuse suits?
-
Don't forget, Knight got Ewe (Munich via Effingham, IL) ... and we almost had Ivan Renko...

The Stevens ship has sailed for good. He's dead to me. Long live Coach DeVries!
