  1. In the case of Beilein, 4 years is about all he has... I just can't see hiring a dead-end like that... even if JB turns things around, who's to say when his shelf life is up, that the next guy can keep it going?
  2. Maybe yes, maybe no :D but the possible "show cause" order is a problem... as well as the overall sleazy, slimy aspect.
  3. I am having trouble reconciling the Knight/Beard/IU thing... Beard worked for Knight immediately after Knight was fired at IU... Knight was extremely bitter -- even vitriolic towards IU... I cannot imagine Beard not hearing any of that, and 10 years of Knight and Patrick beating that drum has to have had some impact in Beard's head... All of the IU admin that fired Knight is long gone, and Knight has ultimately reconciled (at least to some extent) towards IU, but is that enough to make all of that history a non-issue for Beard?
  4. Whomever Dolson hires will feel the pressure... but BS was going to be under the gun from the beginning... how many posts refer to him as the savior of IUMBB? Any rebuild will not happen overnight... but hopefully we will see steady progress in the right direction... we will rise again.
  5. because it feels so good when it stops.
  6. Exactly... and Arch was very successful at Dayton - successful enough to get Glass to bite - and here we are looking for his replacement 4 years later... Arch's success was at a different league, with a different level of play, and different talent level required to compete... also a vastly different conference... Let's just not go there again...
  7. Can't say what anyone thought about RMK. I was a kid. Dad passed 11 years ago... I am sure some remember... but to the NAIA guy to Indiana, not sure we've sunk that low... let him pay his dues in D-II, low D-I and/or mid-majors... despite what the past 25 years looks like, Indiana is not a place where you jump from NAIA to the B1G... And to remind everyone, Alford killed at Manchester College... and has been adequate at best beyond that.
  8. You miss on 100% of the shots you don't take. If outcome was guaranteed, anyone could do it.
  9. and the Hoosier Nation said "duh"!
  10. This right here. We've done this (search/hire/replace a coach) way too many time already in recent history... no need to complicate the process by going into a new coach scenario with a known shelf life...
  11. There's no guarantee that ANY coach will succeed here or anywhere else... but no need going off the deep end on an NAIA guy... plenty of other quality fish in the sea...
  12. Because Archie sucked... mediocre at best in the B1G... why give him false hope and delay the inevitable. Dolson will get a quality coach... he's already shown the fanbase how serious he is about fixing IUMBB.
  13. You could say the same thing about the NBA relative to college ball. Granted all the kids want to go to the league, but it IS a different kind of basketball (if you could call it that).
  14. The obvious joke aside, this reminds me of the Philadelphia 76ers from the '80s... too many "stars" and way too much arguing over who's in charge...
  15. I'm out with either Alford or JB... not sure Matta is a win either, given his health issues...
  16. CTC had too much going on to concentrate (constant clapping, sipping Diet Coke and hitching up them oversized drawers). Never saw Arch as a used car salesman type... just didn't get it done here...
  17. If that's all that's there, I'd be hard pressed to call that a "shrine"... more like a bit of sidewalk litter.
  18. That's right out of Goodman's playbook... never stop piling on Indiana...
  19. In my experience, whenever someone starts a sentence with a disclaimer, it's usually how they really feel. "I'm not calling you a liar, but..." "I don't mean to be rude, but..." "I don't mean to offend you, but..." "I'm sure you meant no harm, but..."
  20. Yeah, it's the proverbial "quiet before the storm"... like that eerie silence just before the tornado strikes.
  21. We are not screwed. And Archie is not (was not) the answer. And neither is Alford. A lot of folks said Knight was here too long. Davis was definitely here too long. Crean was here too long. Maybe Archie was here too long... but he was definitely here long enough.
  22. I get the disappointment. I even buy the analogy... but it sounds like you're miffed that those with connections "did not deliver". It was not up to them (folks like @IUwins0708 and @Chris007, who I am sure don't need me to defend them or their actions)... they can only tell what they are told... AFAIK, none of those guys were involved in any of the negotiations, nor were they "contacts" with Stevens or his people... sure, THEY didn't deliver... but they had as much control over the outcome as you or I did - NADA. ZILCH. BUPKIS. Yeah, it sucks, and we're all disappointed... and maybe a little angry, and it stung a little. Ok, it stung a lot. But I looked out the window this morning and saw that big yellow ball rising over the eastern horizon, so I have no worries. We will survive this. We're Hoosiers. That's what we do.
  23. Dude, you're going to die either way. Some day. We all are. #bwahahaha
  24. ...agreed. It's going to be one of those "where were you when you got the news" moments!
  25. Why would it be CT? Both Indy and Boston are now ET...
