We have multiple shortcomings as a team, but across the board our inability to make shots is so poor that I'm not sure we'd win many games if we cleaned the other problems up.

Do we know the nature of Race's injury? When it happened it didn't appear that he hit his head on the floor, suggesting it might not be another concussion (presumably it doesn't rule that out though). Gotta sympathize with his string of injuries.

Last night PSU was pretty bad. If we were anything close to good we'd have had a 20 point lead at halftime (but we were equally bad in the first half - they played better in the second and we managed to play even worse).

I have nothing against him but he sure hasn't developed or shown the ability to contribute on the offensive end. I have no issue with his effort - he did grab several rebounds last night, but couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a bazooka and had plays where he just wasn't alert (specifically the 10-second call when Green was triple teamed in the backcourt). He's been healthy and available for the entirety of almost two full seasons - and the clock is ticking.

IMO a team can't display the same poor decision making, lazy effort, and horrible shooting without it being a matter of poor coaching and/or lack of talent - and both are the reponsibility of the head coach. For the first time since he was hired, I'm beginning to think Archie isn't up to the job. Sad.

This game has been the basketball equivalent of the old joke: "a battle of wits between two unarmed opponents".

Apparently using your forearm while driving to the bucket is fine in the B10. Maryland got away with it several times in the first half on Sunday and the PSU guy was using it on Brunk.

Fully agree. Devonte is who he is. That mold is cast. The challenge for the coaches is to manage his minutes. Durham is SO frustrating to me - the kid hustles, plays hard and seems to follow the script but just has instances of poor decision making. If there's any single fault for this loss, IMO it was the number of shots missed from near the charge/block semi-circle.

I've found that it's very common for message board posters to blame the coach by default (refs being a distant second). I've been watching IU basketball since the mid 1970`s and realize that while I recognise good play, I don't have any idea about the multiple factors that go into determining the result of a game. Maybe the ones who criticize the head coach after a loss are significantly more knowledgeable than me, but I tend to believe it's usually a knee-jerk, lazy way to express their displeasure. That's not to say the coach can't, or doesn't make mistakes. Of course some of those who gripe after a loss are simply chronic complainers. I get it though, we're hungry for success (and by extension good play). We lost in disappointing fashion yesterday, but at the same time we've been seeing the best stretch of quality play in the Archie era.

Yes. This loss was due to our failure to execute down the stretch... BUT "Hall of Calls" my backside!

The worst part is that he was doing that after he scored, before we got the ball. You do that out on the football field and you get a flag, but the refs just ignored his behavior.

As much as I'd like to gripe about MD shooting out of their minds (and they are), we're shooting uncharacteristically well from beyond the arc as well. And yes we've left a lot of points on the floor on missed shots inside 8 feet.

Yep. Should have at least called a TO immediately after the ball cleared the net. Instead, we watched 3+ seconds run off the clock and had Durham race down and chuck up a prayer. Still, this one's nowhere near out of reach.

If we hadn't missed 3 (more?) bunnies, this would only be a 2 possession game.
