  1. I freakin' hate having to agree with this
  2. Another one of our patented scoring droughts. SSDY
  3. Armaan is better than our two starting guards, IMO.
  4. AKA "indoor snow blindness" lol
  5. We can't make contested layups.
  6. Joey Brunk is really battling at both ends of the floor. Refs are letting them play (so far).
  7. Reading your updates on Anthony's games, one thing I've noticed is that he's had good shooting pct. consistently. That makes me glad he'll be in SSAH next year.
  8. It's not always a matter of quantity, it's a matter of who and when. Also, we haven't had as many players/shots as last season. But, guys who don't possess the ability to knock down threes with any kind of consistency have and do put up ill advised shots. As MikeRoberts said, it's more a problem of when we see such shots - we get in a "funk" and seem to go into some kind of panic mode. We abandon the game plan and start shooting bad shots. It makes matters worse when it's a player that isn't a decent shooter or it's a guy that has gone cold (witness Fitzner last season). Someone characterized the bad shot selection as "all Miller's teams do is chuck up 3's", which I haven't seen suggested in thread at all. My point was and is that bad shot selection isn't a coaching issue but rather a discipline issue, two-fold - undisciplined play and players who do so not being held to account because they often repeat the same behavior.
  9. It seems under the CAM regime, there is no penalty for taking an unwise shot. I've commented in previous seasons that almost every player seems to think he has the "green light". For example on Sunday, Race chucked up a "3" out of nowhere. Knight used to speak about how you get the shots from the right players and I don't think we always do that.
  10. AD has improved his shooting to a degree, but plays like a bull in a china shop with the ball. He tries to drive to the rim and, more often than not, ends up in a turnover or missed shot. IMO, coaching should have a greater affect on playing under control and smart. He's one of those players you really want to like because he does play hard, but just can't seem to finish consistently. I was surprised at the elbow he threw - never saw him as a dirty or overly emotional player, but he was guilty on that instance. I wonder if any further punishment will be forthcoming(?).
  11. Justin Smith has improved significantly in the areas of defense and consistency. IMO, not so much shooting the ball. Hard to say about Brunk (different system, teammates, etc). We can judge TJD at the end of the season. Overall I agree with the OP. Yes, several of these players may have a limited "ceiling" - but certainly not ALL of them. Frankly, I've been somewhat disappointed in the skill development of the team in general. With that said we are a better defensive team, hands down, from the CTC years (but still have an ongoing problem with guarding beyond the arc). If it's low player potential then, get players with higher potential. This may already be the case, but it's hard to say with Rob with his injuries, Jerome with his medical situation, or Armaan being a freshman. I haven't abondoned hope that CAM can/will be a good player development coach but I haven't seen sufficient evidence to say that's the case.
  12. 3 seasons with lousy shooting. No damn excuse for it!
  13. IUGradman ?????
  14. Regarding Hunter, I thought yesterday he looked comfortable on the court for the first time this year. Up until now, he looked rather mechanical but yesterday he was much more fluid. His shot has been off, that's for sure, but he did have a nifty move and basket in the first half. I wonder how his shot looks in practice? Same goes for Justin Smith. I'd bet both of those guys shoot it well in non-game situations but really need to be knocking them down when it counts.
  15. Hit the "easy" shots and ND never gets back into this game.
  16. Our 3 best players were newcomers (2 frosh & a transfer). I have to say it makes me uneasy about this staff's ability to develop players.
  17. Unsatisfying win it is !!!
  18. Don't let them hit a 3 !!!!!!!!!
  19. Plenty of time left but I can already say this will be an unsatisfying win or a maddening loss...
  20. 2nd half guard play has been simply dreadful.
  21. Durham asleep at the wheel. SMH
  22. Knees aren't made to bend sideways. Ouch!
  23. We're getting great looks but can't hit the shots. Probably left a dozen points on the floor already from inside 8 feet!
