The reason Stevens is the most attractive candidate for most is because he's been successful at every level, is still relatively young, and is from Indiana. Admittedly, I do question how long he would want to be a cbb coach. The claim he's told Dolson he'd prefer a 6 year commitment over a 10 year one would support that concern. That said, there will be uncertainty with any potential coach and I'd still regard Stevens as the ideal candidate.

That introductory event just felt weird from the begining. Felt like Miller was thre under duress or something.

I think this is a good sign. Maybe they are close to, or have, their guy. At the least it seems like the search is under control and disciplined.

IMO a huge factor was that damn packline defense. Either he didn't recruit guys that could execute it, he didn't teach it well enough, or it won't work against better competition (UVA suggests otherwise).

I thought I'd heard something to that effect. That would bolster the claims that Dolson would have an open project for finding a coach and very well might get his guy in short order.

It's been mentioned that Dolson has been working on this coaching replacement for quite a while. I seem to recall some talk when Woodson was hired about him being a "bridge" hire or anticipating he wouldn't coach for too many years. Does anybody recall of anything to this effect was ever officially mentioned by IU or Woodson himself?

Of course they weren't - they were at home hitting refresh in eager anticipation RTZ news (like the rest of us, lol).

One thing I'm certain of: When the coach is announced/introduced, we will be told he was our main (and perhaps only) target.

Maybe one reason behind the improved schedule is to elevate our national exposure. With a newly hired, big name coach it would add a lot of hype to the media coverage. Our recent lackluster preseason schedule has provided no "buzz" (other than getting stomped by every decent team we played).

Heck, yesterday we had "The Riddler", "Winchester '73", and "Puckered B-holes". You never know what topics will come up on BTB.

Absolutely. Until we start bringing in top talent across the board like the elite teams, we'll struggle against real title contenders. Even if we never do (how many elite cfb teams are there?) - being a very good, top 1/3 of the conference team, year in and year out, would still be a fantastic improvement.
