Allen took over an IUFB program that was in pretty good shape (for IU) with back to back bowl appearances. He has utterly torpedoed the program. He shouldn’t coach another game here. Dude owes everything to Penix and DeBoer.

I really cannot stand this guy at all and don’t really buy all the “he’s such a great guy” takes. He goes out and gets destroyed every week for the past 2.5 seasons now and every week points fingers at everyone but himself afterwards.

You mean Tom frantically pacing the sidelines, frothing at the mouth, and celebrating like a cheerleader doesn’t project poise?

The team takes after Allen’s personality, and that’s not a good thing. Undisciplined, disorganized, frantic. We consistently look like we don’t know what we’re doing. It’s been a theme his entire tenure, and he’s been the one consistent piece.

Really feel like Sorsby is the better QB but politics will keep him out of the starting job.

I agree. He’s not a Mel Tucker or a Kevin Wilson. And I’ve never met the guy, so I don’t have any insight into what he’s like in private. However, the public Tom Allen is nothing to gush about. At the least his public ‘leadership’ is very questionable.

Unless Allen is very different behind closed doors than he is on in the public eye, I think it’d be very hard to take Allen seriously as a head coach.

Who cares if they see it as a destination job. If someone comes here and gets scooped up after two years, that means the team actually did well those two years. That’ll make it easier to hire the next guy. You can’t let the preemptive fear of losing a coach down the line stop you from going after the best coach you can get. After today Allen will be 2-18 in his last 20 conference games. If that’s the best we can get then just shut the program down.

Yeah, people love touting the “Tom would stay if he succeeds here” line, yet we had to give him a top 5 buyout to keep him here. The math’s not mathing.

Tom’s gotta go at the end of the season. Team is dead. I wonder who he’ll throw under the bus during the post-game after this one.

LEO is just a front. His true self is revealed by the way he consistently throws his staff and players under the bus to excuse his own incompetence. And it’s obvious that the players are entirely over it at this point.

The program was in a pretty good place (for IU) when he took it over. It’s in a much worse place now. That says a lot about how good of a coach he is, imo…

He’s thrown 16 touchdowns through 4 games this season. IU threw 16 touchdown passes total last season. This year through four games? 2. *proceeds to vomit*

He doesn’t have the money to do that thanks to his big brain contract extension he gave out to Tommy.
