Our defense looks an awful lot like last Thanksgiving. Just like Wake Forest last year.

Well it's the beginning of the end for John Groce. I for one am going to miss him. But here's to hoping Illinois flubs another hire ensuring more 20 and 30 point losses to us.

Yeah, sad face. This is why when people were giddy with excitement a month ago talking about having enough room for a class with Wilkes, Waters, and Preston, or any combination of 2 of the three, I was taking more of a wait-and-see approach. It reminded me of 2014 when a lot of fans thought our class was going to consist of at least 2 of James Blackmon, Trey Lyles, Cliff Alexander, and Tyus Jones. It's never as good as we think it's going to be unfortunately. It's highly likely we're going to sign one more kid in the spring that we've never even heard of yet. But hey, we should focus more on the fact we have a hell of a team this year, rather than worry about our recruiting.

Until Tremont Waters actually shows up on Georgetown's campus, I'm still holding out hope we land him in the end. I know he's already signed, but I don't care. Thompson is getting fired this year because Georgetown is terrible. He was already on the hot seat to begin with which is why he felt the need to "retool the offense" to keep people optimistic, but it clearly isn't working. They're currently 1-2 with home losses to an ok Maryland team and Arkansas State. They also play Oregon tomorrow and should lose that game too, paving the way for 2 straight seasons of being left out of the NCAA tournament. Fingers crossed.

Man I would love this, and to take it a step further, we should pull out of the stupid Crossroads Classic in favor of a larger-scale tournament with better teams, and instead the early season "gimme" games should be against any 2 of Valpo, Butler, IUPUI, Evansville, Notre Dame, Ball State, or Indiana State. This has to happen. It's a win-win because we'd still be able to host and travel to other Indiana schools for state-wide exposure, but more importantly help our RPI and national relevance by playing those teams instead of cupcakes and also appearing in a better nonconference tournament with schools like Duke, UK, UCLA, etc.

Precisely. Crean only gets a certain amount of time per week with the players per NCAA rules, so he might as well use games as practice time if he can. The 2nd half of some of these games are essentially free 20-minute practices.

Thanks for that, thought it was Tuesday. Based on their last game I'd say Swanigan is off to a good start; he had 23 and 20 in a game against some cupcake. He'll be quite a force this year, that's for sure.

Pretty good assessment. So the question is - do we root for Purdue to beat Villanova on Tuesday so we can leap-frog them too after next week's rankings? I probably won't be able to bring myself to do that.

Our last 2 wins have come against Kentucky and Kansas. If we go ahead and beat North Carolina and Louisville this year, that's a big step in becoming a "sexy" program for recruits again.

Keep in mind this is Newkirk's first game in like 2 years. It's also against a pretty good team.
