  1. Thank goodness--Kepner---you had me worried there for a moment!   Come join me in the Alamo---there aren't very many of us---but we'll try to hold the fort down for Priller and the boys!   (Did you catch that--Priller is from Texas and I went with the Alamo analogy!)   :D
  2. In other words Kepner----don't leave me here all alone with all of these crazy people! LOL!  :banghead:
  3. Kepner---keep your head up and keep posting.  I certainly have enjoyed your input.   There is a lot of negativity here but less so then the other message boards.  Hopefully, we change that by winning!   Besides--BTown Banners posters are more fun!
  4. Does sound promising WayneFleek. Similar M.O. as the last few.
  5. And----the OG watch continues!
  6. Come on WayneFleek---you don't really think Hartman (I think you meant April) and Priller were the only Big guys willing to come to IU do you?   I could name about 10 right here in Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky who would die to play at a program like IU!   I think you are being overly cynical about them and overlooking their obvious strengths and specialties.  Yes---they need time to develop---but they are not exactly chopped liver either!    And most importantly---they are now Hoosiers!
  7. Yes---OG is the real deal.  That height allows him to play some mean defense too!   The chips should start falling anytime now!
  8. I agree WayneFleek that OG has a high ceiling and has a special skill---elite athleticism---that makes him a great recruit but as much as I like him---I also admit he is not a likely starter next year if he commits.   I just think Priller and April have special skills as well.  Priller is a big who can absolutely light it up from outside and April is a big who has great size and passing.    I just don't understand why everyone thinks they are somehow inferior before they even play a game. Crean is better at identifying talent earlier than a lot of other coaches and I see no reason why that cannot be true for Priller and April (and Z3 who everyone is now conveniently deleting from their criticism after the Canadian trip).   Time will tell. Just my opinion.  I will always give our players the benefit of the doubt until I am shown otherwise!
  9. I agree with a lot of your points WayneFleek----but why do you not feel Priller and April have upside when they haven't even played yet?
  10. Yeah MikeRoberts----I trust the coaches on it--- but it is puzzling with who all we are still recruiting! I gave my theory above.
  11. Fair enough BGleas---time will tell on that one....   And before some of our fellow posters throw a hissy---the same discussion applies to OG as well.  He may not be ranked the highest but with development and experience his ceiling is high.   Where I do agree with you BGleas---is that we cannot have a team full of players who are all diamonds in the rough and who are not ready to be starters.  If we did--- we would be Purdue!
  12. Do you have some OG news to share---djsalway? We may get a little off-topic sometimes but at least we keep on posting!
  13. But experience is important too!   Howard may not have come in as highly recruited or acclaimed as a walk-on but he worked his tail off and became a contributor over more athletically gifted or skilled players. Part of that was his seasoning and development and time in the program.   I agree though that some of it was the lack of progress by other higher rated players.   My point is you need players like Priller that know they are not likely to be starters but who can work hard---push players in practice----go in for special situations for a 3 ball---and who get a chance to develop into solid contributors as upperclassmen.   That's always been the IU Way!  If we become a school that changes our entire roster year after year and don't allow players---especially bigs----to develop----that's a recipe for mediocrity.
  14. Ummm---Howard could never shoot outside as well as Priller can !   However---Howard is a good example of a player who developed after a few years in our program into a contributor.  There is no reason at this time to doubt that Priller can do the same thing if given the chance!
  15. We will have to see BGleas----he did play 5A ball in Texas----the highest division and best competition.   He also was over 50% from 3 in Canada----the best I can remember.   And who could forget Yogi's quote from practices---- about telling current IU players to not let Priller get the ball !   Believe me--shooting will not be his problem!

  17. Dead horse---see club-----I'm definitely not getting into the so and so should leave discussion until we see the guys play this season.   I have a different take on O.G.  You know I like him----reminds me of Oladipo when he was in high school----but with no insider info and after reading his coach's comments---  I believe he is ready to commit to IU but is a backup plan to Shake which is why he's waiting 7 to 10 days to decide.  That gives Shake a chance to decide first.  If Shake says no----OG will commit.  If Shake says yes----OG goes to Georgia or Iowa.  Even I admit Shake is more polished now and the better player now and would be a recruiting priority over OG.   The reason I think this is our ships are just too limited to take them both with Juwan and then still be looking at bigs like Bryant and Kasongo.  This is how college basketball recruiting works nowadays.  Just my opinion!
  18. Anybody hearing anything on OG?   Last I heard it was 100% crystal ball for IU.
  19. Parakeet---we love you man!!!  Oh wait---better back off some!
  20. Man we are getting mushy!    We really need a commit or a game to tip soon!
  21. I am just imagining what would happen if Hovadipo actually did run up and hug Bryant and plead for him to commit...... Might not be pretty-----someone could lose some teeth!  LOL!   :120:   Now if it was one of our campus beauties that hugged him.......Might work!
  22. Hovadipo---looked back at my post about your OG comment referencing me. I responded last night in the wee hours of the morning after sitting through a freezing and rainy high school football game and after I was already ticked about the lack of positive Shake news when I got home....   Point being---my response to you was too harsh/stern.  You're one of my favorite posters and have always been nothing but fair and objective in my book. Forgive my grumpiness. I stand by my point---but I sure could have said it a lot nicer!   Since you were offering hugs for Bryant the other night---maybe we could hug this one out!  LOL!
  23. Good point Woodson---I was psyched about Miller and he showed glimpses---but there's only one Calbert  just like there's only one Vic.  But---that doesn't keep us from making comparisons for potential recruits. I hope if OG comes here he turns into another Vic. I watched video of both Vic and OG from their high school days and I see a lot of similarities.
  24. Bryant ....Bryant....Bryant......Time to start funneling some positive energy and thoughts for this recruitment.    Would be huge----can you imagine this guy after several months in IU's strength and conditioning program!   BEAST--MODE!
  25. In other news-----I still like OG and he still reminds me of Vic!
