JaQuan Lyle off the board

I figured you would like that one Hovadipo----that would give you a lot of gas to pour on that anti-Illini fire! I was trying to remember if there was a big that we missed out on for next year that we may still be trying to pull in? -
(2015) C Thomas Bryant to IU
rebelhoosier848891 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
CC--you hit the nail on the head! This is going to be one crazy recruiting week-----we are in on a lot of great recruits with seemingly no schollys to give them. We'll let the staff figure that out because something is obviously in the works. I just hope Bryant makes it here too. Then----let IU happen! -

All that being said----Hovadipo----Blueitt or Harris would be awesome too! I'd prefer Blueitt! The roller coaster that is IU recruiting-----continues! -

Yeah or Hovadipo----I was also thinking of Jalen Coleman---a top guard----honor student---involved in community service---interested in busiess school---from Indiana----and no Indiana player has gone to Illinois in 30 years. If his verbal is oral only and not in writing--- it is not binding yet, correct? Anybody got any info? He doesn't seem like an Illinois player to me---seems like an IU player! Don't know if Illinois could stand being jilted at the altar once again! AKA----Eric Gordon! -

I agree HoosierD---there would have to be some pre-arranged agreement or plan in place with one or more of our current recruits/players for this to make sense. That's something we are not privy to unless it occurs. -

Hoosier Sports Live's blog site is making claims it is also hearing strange recruiting news about IU as well and making comments about "have you ever dated a girl who is now with another guy and you just can't let her go---that's IUBBall recruiting these days"-----I don't know who they are referring to but it could be Lyle or Kasongo. Stay tuned. -

Also---remember Lyle has a great relationship with Blackmon. I just can't see him coming in at semester and taking a backseat to our current guards. Don't see how that work out very well. I still vote no but this is interesting stuff! -

I agree Hovadipo most internet chatter believes Lyle goes back to Oregon after a semester at IMG to cure the grade thing. But--it does leave the door ajar for IU to get back involved if both parties are interested. Something is going on as it appears they are both at least exploring mutual interest---that's coming from IU and Southern Indiana sources. In the end I don't think this happens because we are so guard heavy and don't want to upset the chemistry. But---he is a big pg like Shake and if Shake said no---maybe staff is looking for future options? We shall see! -

I brought this up about a month ago---just reading tea leaves here---but by sending staff to see Kasongo recently and still looking at Lyle---I am not even sure we are done with 2014 recruiting yet. They could come at semester break. Don't ask me where the scholly comes from but remember Zags said IU was willing to take both Holt and Kasongo if they would come even though we only had one scholly left at the time.. I am betting Crean has a tentative scholly situation worked out with one of our current recruits----only thing that makes sense to me. Stay tuned Hoosier Nation this is about to get interesting! -

Lots of chatter that Lyle may be available at semester break from IMG and that IU is till showing interest. Some chatter that he may be coming to Hysteria----nothing confirmed. This makes it sound like we are out of it for Shake and still looking for our future pg----anybody got any info? -

Almost every team takes on a few tough cases----but the tricky part is to not let it upset the balance/chemistry of the team. Can't blame IU for watching his development----not interested yet but we will see how he progresses. I like our team chemistry right now and remember the old saying: "it only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole bunch"! The question is how much of a bad apple is he really and does he mature over the next year? We don't know the answers to these questions----but I can tell you imo he's way more talented than Hollowell. Worth watching...... -

You missed my whole point JuwantGrimesShakes---I wasn't comparing OSU to IU----I was saying with their top classes year after year they underachieve. They may indeed win a lot and go to a lot of sweet 16's but I am arguing with their talent they should do more. UW and UM have done just as well or better lately with a lot less talent than OSU. That's my point----was not trying to start another bash IU thread. -

Hmmmm. Dominoes are a falling! No inside info--but I think we get OG and Shake goes elsewhere. I can live with that! -

Now that Shake is supposed to announce Wednesday---let's see if there is movement in OG's timeline. The dominoes are about to start falling----I hope we get one of either Shake or OG and I believe we will. Both are solid talents! -

Looks like IU is waching how they respond to their disappointments----watching their grades, attitude, and behavior. Not a bad move. -

Sure are a whole lot worse places to play BBall than Hawaii! Agree MemphisHoosier---that a Hawaii trip is the kind of intangible that could help sway a new recruit---even for a 1 and Done knowing they only have a little while in college----a visit to the island is not a bad perk! -

Agree and my comment wasn't directed at you BGleas---I just think O$U is one of those teams that does the least with the most amount of talent. -

I see Lyle and Kasongo in a lot the same light. They are both kids who were catered to and told how great they were and they both are now having to eat some humble pie. The question is how will they respond from their disappointing circumstances? Will they be bitter or use it as a chance to grow up and get hungry? I don't know what IU ends up doing---but I do know IU is keeping in contact with both. They are talented----I vote no to both right now---but we shall see! -

I will spark controversy here---but I have always thought Matta is overrated as a coach. His key to his success is great recruiting but I frankly haven't been impressed with what he's done with it. Every year I look and he gets commits from some of the best players early and I just cant figure out how O$U does that---wink---wink--- . But back to the point of the posts---yes---the old UL teams and O$U are good examples of teams with success using big athletes. To some extent Crean's old Marquette teams were like that. I think Crean may be getting back to his type of team with this one and his current recruiting. We shall see. -

Lyle is from my area----but unless he grows up----I vote NO too! I have heard there is still a relationship with IU---and talent wise he is a fit and possible post-yogi answer. -

There are certainly worse things in life/basketball than having multiple 6'7"+ athletic guys to throw out on the court! Like OG!
