JaQuan Lyle off the board

A big gamble----It seems like we finally got the chemistry issues resolved and I don't want to see that messed up again. -

And I don't want the Cuse predictions to be true---- because I fear our fallback is Kasongo and his "handler". I actually like Kasongo but I am worried about Bender Baggage! -

The lure of home? He went to Huntington Prep---it's not like he hasn't been away from home before! They can make all the predictions they want but they are worthless until AFTER he actually visits IU/BTown! -

If Bryant comes to Hysteria--- I know two Big Head pictures of Boeheim we need to blow up! -

Is OG's family originally from Nigeria? Wonder if he has any younger brothers who might want to play IU football or basketball? -

I've thought about this a lot and I am still not on board with it yet---definitely not at semester break. I trust the staff---- but this seems like a desperation move to me. Looking at our roster---if no one leaves----we don't have to have a pg for next year anyway. If yogi leaves--slide over Rojo or Stan (or even JBJ) and we would be fine. I say slam on the brakes---call 2015 done unless a stud big wants to come---and start concentrating on the 2016 guards which are great. That's my 2 cents---but tomorrow ----we will probably hear Lyle is coming to Hysteria! -

Back on topic---an interesting fact about OG. Zach Osterman reports OG has an older brother named Chigbo who plays NFL football for the Tennessee Titans and who used to be a Colt. That's some major athleticism in that family! -

Let's swing some momentum back our way this weekend with Bryant! -

Never mind--found that Lyle and Bryant played together and dominated together at Huntington Prep---this new rumor could actually have legs! We shall see..... -

CampCrean--I read it somewhere--I think at ITH. Bryant is from Rochester, New York and played for New York based Team Scan which Coach Martin is familiar with. -

Interesting stuff. To me---adding Lyle and Bryant would be much better than adding Lyle and Kasongo. (Lyle still concerns me) Someone refresh my memory---what's the past connection between Lyle and Bryant---they have played together correct? Something is definitely going on behind the scenes and if Shake says no----which we all think he will---then it will soon be revealed.. -

Wow--I check in at lunch and all kinds of news! Would love a Cuse v. IU battle for Bryant---he gets his first look this weekend! I am hearing Coach Martin helped us make up a lot of ground in a short amount of time on this one! -

We laugh---but do not be shocked if our recruiting class for next year is: Juwan---OG----Lyle----Kasongo. I kid you not---it is a real possibility. You don't really think McClain went to see Kasongo just for the heck of it in Idaho AFTER he was not accepted to IU. Yes--he did. I don't know if it will happen but I know IU is keeping its options open. What a class---extremely talented but half of it would be extremely concerning! -

I am not there yet. Shake is 1----Lyle is a distant 2. But if Shake says OU as we expect tomorrow---that changes everything! -

You're making me nervous fellas. So IUHoosiers41---you going on gut or more than gut? That's all you have to say. Down here in Evansville they claim Lyle wanted to commit once before but IU would not take it at the time because it could scare off someone else we were recruiting. Truth? -

Back to OG---I wonder if Coach McClain assisted with his recruitment too. We griped that McClain was not bringing us much with his past ties but suddenly---April/Juwan/OG/ and maybe Shake tells a different story. Now if Martin helps us with Holt/ and maybe someone like Alkins or Maker---we start firing on all cylinders! -

Schoosier--I know many will disagree----but I do think we have recruited top tier D1 athletes this year. I am on record saying I think Z3 and Holt will be solid this year----and I like the situational shooting Priller brings and the developmental potential of a 7 foot April. There should be no dispute over JBJ, RoJo, or Max. I do agree with you that I will be ticked if I find out they are "run off" and replaced with the next-- new shiny thing. There was too much turnover last year and I don't want that to become the trend. -

rebelhoosier848891 replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree Schoosier that we disagree on the definition of "run off". I don't think a recruit is "run off" if the staff is truthful with him and he is told he has had 2 years to develop and has not and others who are younger or are walk-ons are going to be playing over him next year and then HE decides to transfer to a school for more playing time. I do think a player is "run off" if he is told he has not progressed and IU is not renewing his scholarship next year so he might as well transfer. Maybe there is sometimes almost a blurred line between the two but they are very different. Most top tier D1 athletes like IU would recruit want to play and they are not content to set on the bench so they decide to transfer when the staff is truthful with them. I think that applies to players like Abell . He still comes back to IU to scrimmage and visit so I don't think he holds a grudge. But again--I agree I don't like the high turnover either. -

Schoosier---I disagree with calling it disgraceful unless the players are actually being "run off". Many if not most other programs are doing close to the same thing. I agree with you that I don't like it and hope last year was an exception and not the new IU norm. I am also on record agreeing with you that we need players that we develop and get experience so we can have competitive upperclassmen instead of being young--- year after year after year.......Experience matters--experience wins. -

One poster on another site that I KNOW has inside connections to IUBBall says there is "conversation" both ways and that's also the word here in Southern Indiana---so we shall see. Not close to a commitment yet though. I think the Shake decision tomorrow brings this into clearer focus! -
