Ball State is 4-6 and would have to win their next two games. Even then, can you play a bowl game against a team you already faced in the regular season?

We seem to start slow with these early games, hopefully the guys are well rested and encouraged at the chance of knocking off a top-25 opponent and becoming bowl eligible. The defense will have their hand full trying to contain one of the best (if not the best) running back in the league in Barkley. Offensively, we can't have 4 turnovers again and Lagow will have to be accurate with his throws. Can we see a big day by day by Camion Patrick? P.S. for those people thinking about going, IU Athletics is having a promotion on tickets. $40 tickets for adults, $10 for kids. Only online and only through today though.

On paper this should be another Hoosier win but we all know what happened last season in Bloomington. Hope the offense continues where it left off against Maryland and we see more of that Zander/Natee combo with a few more passing plays added to the playbook. ESPN's Football Power Index gives IU a 66.6% chance of winning while in terms of S&P+ ranking IU sits at 51 and Rutgers at 114. Lets go Hoosiers!

Still a little puzzled as to why Maddon brought Chapman in last night with a 7-2 lead; hope it doesn't come back to haunt them. But it is the World Series so I expect Lester and Lackey to be available early on if Hendricks struggles. My guess is Kluber will pitch 4, maybe 5, innings and then go to Andrew Miller and Cody Allen.

The team really needs to win this weekend; not only to keep the bowl hopes alive but also to give the team some confidence. We have been in quite a few close games against some very good teams. The combined record of the teams we've lost to is 22-6, with Northwestern having 3 of those loses early in the season. But regardless, I hope this is the week the offense takes the next step and helps our defense win the game. Maryland runs the ball very well so our run defense will have to play well. We rank 70 in Offensive S&P+, 32 in Defensive S&P+ and 65 in Special Teams S&P+. Maryland? 72 Offensive S&P+, 47 Defensive S&P+, and 99 in Special Teams S&P+.
