Have we heard anything on Boogie and Liam?

Little 5 seems a week early compared to back in my days. Times have changed I suppose.

It’s happening. We’re well prepared to offer $7 million a year whenever Brad makes the call. Coaches don’t just quit coaching. You’ll get the itch and not the bad itch where you need to see your local medical professional.

I’ll check on that tomorrow. I imagine it’s all commercial flights but for the big dogs, I would use some of the NIL to charter a kid to Bloomington.

@Chris007 Do you think the program uses the charter to bring in some of these kids or are they picking them up in Indianapolis?

Pending on these last couple commits that could come, Leak and Newton are DNP-CD’s.

Fans don’t like the offense, some recruits don’t like it, Woodson is doing his job though! It likely cost Liam as well. The offense has to change. Rice should bring some different life into this offense I hope, Johnson wasn’t reliable clearly. Ballo and Malik together seems scary but could work at times. Need an update on Ballo, has anyone heard anything?

Ballo commit by tomorrow evening? At least this week right?

There’s no salary cap in NIL / NCAA. So if you have money, you have the advantage nine times out ten. SEC and B1G money are different compared to ACC. B12 is still the best conference and their NIL money is still behind from what I hear.

Personally, I think Woodson gets “fired” / retires next spring if the season isn’t good. He needs to get pass the first weekend IMO. He’s going to have two freshman of the years on the team while having a McDonald’s AA. If Ballo joins then there’s no excuse outside of injuries that could prevent this team from advancing to the second weekend.

After seeing the coaching market this off-season, I’m not to confident Dolson would be able to field anyone good, let alone great. While I want Woodson fired tonight, the Kentucky search along with others has made it clear that Indiana isn’t going to hire an A, let alone a B+ hire next season. Unless Brad Steven’s wants to get back into it, I don’t know a single candidate that Indiana could land at this point. Assuming the Ballo kid commits and others, Indiana should make the dance. I’ve unfortunately accepted the fact that Indiana isn’t Indiana anymore. It’s an average to below average program that has money and a very supportive fan base. It’s Nebraska Football.

I think it’s just a suggestion of two future Hoosiers and that’s it. Nothing in particular to the shooting ability.

Who is committing today?

It’s incredible what modern basketball (spacing) can provide to a team. I personally don’t like the Ballo / Malik fit on offense. But if Malik can step outside and play a bit out there this season, that’s interesting. But as I mentioned, Rice instead of Johnson should be an upgrade when you’re rolling with a lineup of Rice/Trey/Mack/Tucker/MR. That’s assuming these guys can hit the 3 consistently and key words - more frequently.

I doubt Ballo or Malik would be fine coming off the bench, so I imagine they would start together. Under the Woodson leadership we’ve seen, I imagine Ballo will be the first if not second option. Once they go to a four guard lineup (Rice/Trey/Tucker/Mack/Big Guy), then you’ll see hopefully a more modern offense I would ideally imagine. If the guards can get Malik and Ballo the basketball while knocking down the 3, then Woodson may have something next year. TBD.

Woodson recently said the game is played inside - out. Ballo is huge, he’s going to seal his guys early and often. If Malik can step outside an hit a 3 that will be great. But Ballo is layups, dunk-ins, and rebounds. He’s going to be the first if not second option next season. Assuming he comes to Indiana. Indiana will likely pound the inside with Malik and Ballo. Guards will need to be able to hit the 3.

I’m sort of surprised he didn’t follow his coach to Stanford. Perhaps it was his grades? I’ve talked to people who have had to scout against Rice, apparently he’s going to be a solid get for Indiana. I imagine he’ll start from Day 1.

Now this is funny! Rice is an upgrade from Johnson and Cupps. We’ll see exactly how the guards are utilized with Malik and Ballo taking up the majority of the possessions.

He’s likely worth that in today’s market. I imagine there’s still a couple million available.

Jesus. Well I suppose I’m not too shocked. Interesting better programs didn’t offer him money like Indiana did. The starting lineup for Indiana next season is looking expensive. Not to mention whatever money it took to land Tucker, who I assume will come off the bench.
