So some concerns I’m having...
Baltimore Hoosier replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Check out UVA vs Duke this weekend. UVA runs the pack line to perfection. The issue becomes stopping teams with good outside shooters. You really have to extend the man-to-man in that case, making the pack line less effective. -

Clearly you want to stop the other team's best players. That's the most basic, GED level coaching statement you can make. However, the context in this case was, hey guys, lets continue to do what we said we were gonna do to stop these two guys because that's all they've got. And they proceeded to clog up the lane with bodies to stop the inside game, get stops, and dare this team to shoot... I think if you watch tape of IU and game plan, that's the formula to beat them. -

If the basketball program keeps bringing in relatively large revenues for the school despite being mediocre, they have no incentive to change anything. -
I thought Crean was actually pretty good in terms of scoring and recruiting. Especially those Jordan Hulls teams. Defense and high TO percentage were the major issues IMO.

AJ has a bunch of coaching experience. You don't bring him in here and make him the head coach. But damn if they couldn't use a guy on the staff that is/was a very high level shooter. Oh and he's one of the Hoosier greats.

Total headscratcher... I follow AJ Guyton pretty closely. Probably in my Top 3 all time Hoosiers. He's a freaking assistant at Loyola-Maryland just outside of Baltimore. A perineal bottom-feeder in the Patriot League. And before that? Was the DIRECTOR OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT at Northwestern!! Get AJ back at IU!

Would be really crappy to squander an opportunity to make a tournament appearance/run with the best freshman in the country and one of the best big men in the B1G. -

That does make sense.. Seems to be a disconnect between players. It's strange because you'd think all the practice time these guys have together, the #1 thing would be building cohesiveness. From day 1. -

Good points.. I guess you can't get blood from a turnip. -

I agree with Aloha that some of these guys could develop into shooters.. However, to win NOW, adjustments need to be made like last month. I know I'm not as smart as coaches and guys close to the program, but I do know that if I can gameplan for this team from my couch, the Izzo's, K's, and Belien's of the world are going to have a field day. -
I would never insinuate that fan desire correlated to wins and losses. I am just trying to show how frustrated I am by using examples.. I agree with what you're saying. This University needs to do everything they can to get former players back. Just not sure how that would move the needle in terms of being more of a winning program.

Couple decent games on the Top 25 slate tonight.. Houston @ SMU, K-State @ Oklahoma, and Iowa St @ Texas Tech. Wonder if Penn State can give Iowa trouble at home?? They've been in most games in Happy Valley.

I commented about this on another post, but did you hear Miles coming out of that TO the other day, tell his team, "we know they are going to get it to Morgan and Langford, the usual suspects."??? If Tim Miles knows what they're doing, and I know what they're doing, don't you think every coach in the country knows how to guard this team? There must be more scoring options, if nothing else to keep defenses honest. Against Nebraska, all they needed to do was block up the lane and get rebounds. Same against MD to some extent (until Romeo got hot). -

YES! Thank you! Smith has been doing this all season. Horrendous turnovers. Sloppy shooting. Bad decision making. Must send a message that it's not ok. -

Purdue - Alot Indiana - A little -
How Indiana can continue to be outclassed by programs who can't compete in terms of fanbase, revenue, facilities, tradition, etc is just beyond me.. What is the disconnect? What is going on here? The more I think about my 30 years of fanhood, the amount of money I spend on IU gear and planning trips to games, game tickets, etc., the more angry I get. How as a "blueblood" is IU the ONLY team in the top 5 to have not won a Championship in the last 10 - 15 years? It's been 32!! And in that 32 years, there have only been a hand-full of legit contenders. Totally unacceptable.

Indiana now in the bubble convo?

Indiana vs Nebraska 1/14/19 6:30pm FS1
Baltimore Hoosier replied to LIHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This team MUST find additional scoring options outside of Romeo and Juwan.. Maybe even a spot up 3 point shooter or two. Not sure if anyone else heard it, but coming out of a timeout, they showed Miles talking to his team, and all he said was "we know they are going to get the ball to Morgan and Langford, the usual cast of characters," (something like that). It's so painfully obvious what IU is looking to do on every possession. If I know it and Miles knows it... So does every other team in the country. THIS ISN'T HE A-10 ANYMORE, COACH!
