  1. Gotta look for silver linings. I've been in the mindset lately that I'm ready for baseball and it's not even February yet. The White Sox's offseason plays a large part in that, but I've just not gotten much enjoyment from this season outside of a few games.
  2. Call me a pumper, but IU hasn't shot 20% from the line in a game this season!
  3. Oh, good call. Trey Lyles college career wouldn't blow anyone away, but I'd have taken him too.
  4. Josh Smith never decommitted, but I would have taken him in a heartbeat. Trying to rack my brain on any verbals that "got away" and he was the closest thing I could remember.
  5. That team at least looks like they enjoy being there...not sure I saw many wearing white today
  6. Maybe the #4 team in the country this year, simply wasn't that good. This is just embarrassing
  7. Hunter wearing a back brace of some sort - I'd be disappointed if that were the only reason we even saw Geronimo today. Don't get that substitution pattern at all.
  8. Nice to be hitting shots, but not a fan of any offense where TJD is limited to handing the ball off to guards around the 3pt line. Want to see him on the block as he's much quicker than Johnson
  9. I'm guessing in the post-game presser Archie will mention how he needs to find more minutes for Geronimo like he did Leal. Might take a game or two to take effect though.
  10. We fold so easily. Archie looks about as into the game as the players. Going to be a long Sunday...
  11. He must have had one awful series of practices. Only thing that would make sense to me, other than he's hurt.
  12. Isn't the pack line supposed to limit the layup attempts? Poor effort defensively so far
  13. Bobby Knight didn't cheat, but I'm not sure the "optics" of his program were always peachy. Just sayin'.
  14. Done deal for the Astros on retaining Brantley per Bob Nightengale of the USA Today
  15. You're aiming at the wrong one here my man. I haven't watched the NBA since Jordan was with the Bulls, and haven't had any interest in watching since then. IU basketball certainly hasn't been that enjoyable to watch for me these past few seasons either. I enjoy seeing the defense locking down an opponent when they want to, but offensively it's been similar to watching paint dry
  16. And now they've just signed another former Astro in Michael Brantley. Jays going all out this offseason. Edit: Looks as if Blue Jay officials are pumping the breaks on the Brantley signing. Brantley was someone I wanted the White Sox to target in RF before they swooped Eaton.
  17. They've been in on every free agent per MLB reporters. Very nice signing for them. Will be a fun team to watch with that young core. The Yates signing I also think will be very good who flew under the radar with Hendricks and Hand out on the RP market.
  18. A little but isn’t that what being a fan is all about? Things could be worse - your team could be owned by Jerry Reinsdorf. Tony LaRussa....smh
  19. Ok, botching may not be the correct term. My point still stands that two hires were made in consecutive off-seasons that failed to make it to Spring Training, whether they knew or not, which they didn't obviously. 37 days ago the front-office was praising Porter's character during his introductory press conference, and now here we are. In terms of the news cycle this will be forgotten by tomorrow, so I apologize if I upset you, I just found this combined with the Beltran saga to be quite ironic. Clearly this new Mets ownership has infused some life (money) into that organization which has renewed excitement that I expect this to be a bump on the road when the games start. They should be must see TV with the talent they've accumulated, especially if that pitching staff is at full strength. My phrasing was clumsy so for that I apologize.
  20. How am I ignorant? Beltran and Porter both didn't make it to Spring Training. Maybe you're misunderstanding me, but I applaud the quick action in firing him. Cohen did just take over this team, correct? He wasn't around for the Beltran hiring, or is my timeline mixed up there? As far as the gotcha points - I'm not sure what you're driving at - all I was pointing out was that, yes, he was with the DBacks and Cubs and reports are that a Cubs employee sat down with Porter and the female reporter so someone in the Cubs organization knew, but if he made anyone aware in upper management is unknown, at least at this time, from the article I read this morning. Generally confused, if anything I think the Mets are the ones that look good from this in how quick they acted, but just the hirings in the GM and manager spots the past two seasons haven't worked out, to say the least.
  21. I would say that resumes will be less across the board this year without a full non-conference slate, which our Hoosiers could have desperately needed to pad that W-L column some. This is hopefully an outlier year but resumes are indeed lesser this year especially in this one and done era as you stated. As far the first line - fair enough. Certainly wasn't my intention to put a target on my back as I enjoy discussing IU sports and sports in general so don't want to lose the privilege which a mod would have control over which is why I said I wasn't trying to get in the middle of it, which I guess I'm knee deep in now replying to this.
  22. Not the topic of discussion, but I tend to agree with LCS in this aspect. The quality of college basketball has continuously gotten worse throughout the years, in my opinion. Players jumping to the NBA at any chance they get and players transferring for more playing time has weakened the product over the years. Don't have the answers to fix it, but just my novice observation. Not trying to get in the middle of an LCS vs Mod spat, so carry on...
  23. He's persistent, probably an attribute you want in your GM when trying to acquire free agents, but not so much when pursuing females. And based on his interview the junk was "kinda like joke-stock photo" if you believe that. The back to back years of botching a major hire amazed me as well. What I don't get is how the Cubs say they weren't aware. The reporter said she contacted a Cubs employee who sat down with Porter and her. How does that not get made aware of anyone higher up in the organization? Something not really adding up to me there, but doubt anything comes of that
  24. It’s a good thing the on-field product should be must see TV as that organization has absolutely botched two consecutive offseason managerial hirings - Beltran and now Porter. Two different owners no less. To quote David Hasselhoff “It’s a mess”
