If Im Fred and I'm making a change I let Crean use the jet and keep recruiting. Even if he is recruiting for his next job. First, money isnt an issue and its seen as a gesture of good will to the coaching fraternity. Second, it allows Crean to get a jump on lower prospects he will need to land at his next gig. Which should help him land a job, if he can say I have a recruit or two ready to come with me. Remember we are making a change and we want a positive, amicable separation. No bad PR. Third, it also gives a good smoke screen to the fans and doesnt give the fanbase, as a whole, 100% certainty of a change. Too many positives not to let him recruit.

Yeah, the dude is a clown. Says anyone who is talking doesnt know anything. Then proceeds to tell everyone whats actually happening, which is talking.

I want Billy Donovan, but will be very happy with Archie Miller.

I agree. fingers crossed.

Indiana has been replaced by SLU in the Madison Square Garden game for next season. Seems a bit odd.

Game Thread : Indiana vs Purdue (7:00PM EST, ESPN2)

There was a game tonight? -
What stats and facts have you brought? I can bring you 9 years of stats for Crean at IU. All the stats say is he cant win a national title. Thats what we want, to win a title. He has pissed himself when he had the talent. He then had off court issues and has now missed the dance twice in 4 years. He runs players off and has brought in an extra class compared to his big ten counterparts. Even with the extra class worth of players we sit at the bottom of the Big Ten. I get you are sticking up for your relative, but if you think Crean is a national title capable coach, you are delusional. Go look up defensive efficiencies of all past champions. Then look at Crean during his time here. Then look at the constant turnover issues his teams have had year after year. See, his issues are the same no matter who is on the court, year after year. The man is a mediocre basketball coach, supported by other mediocre basketball coaches. Hell, Bo Ryan coined the phrase Tommy Naismith bc Creans ego is so big he thinks he invented basketball. He is stubborn and not willing to be challenged by his own staff. So he hires mediocre yes men as assistants. Indiana prep coaches have closed the recruiting pipeline. Not only is it in the best interest of Indiana for Crean to leave, its also in Tom Creans best interest to leave mutually. If he stays he will be fired in a year.

Collins is showing well at scouting IU and having a gameplan. So far a leg up on Crean. -

I know one former player who has told his friends Crean is the worst coach he ever played for. This player is from the state of Indiana and ppl wonder why the local coaches have turned on him. -

The players know its towards Crean. Not their fault that the coach underperforms. -

You could hear it on tv. You had to tune out the announcers but you could hear the boo birds for sure. -
I cant wait for this season to end. The media and Crean supporters keep trumpeting 2 conference titles in 4 years. That tired stat is over in a couple weeks. Instead its he has missed the tournament twice in 4 years. Oh but that wont fit their agenda. This free pass Crean gets is the type of mentality that is holding back the program. Fire Crean and move on.

Not unless we change from adidas to under armor. -
Maybe the plot thickens bc Stevens changed his mind and now Billy D and Stevens are trying to be the lowest bidder for the IU job.

So he is the guy Ive heard about and have his twitter bookmarked as a favorite on my phone. I wasnt around this board when he posted before. The mysterious internet legend, The Janitor.

He is a mod on another site. He isnt an insider but he knows the insiders and shares what he hears. He is spot on, a lot. He only posts things on the main board when he can verify it through multiple sources. So i have hope. Still not a done deal by any means. -
Mile just shared that Stevens got the first call and said no. Donovan was the second call and he is interested in talking. This is the easiest decision in the history of IU basketball. Bye Tom, Hello Billy! Pay the man what he wants, pay his staff what he wants, give him the recruiting budget that he wants, buy him the house he wants, and any incentives that he wants.

Ive spent almost a decade of watching poor fundamental basketball and hoping it got better. I will finish out this season as a fan. If Crean is retained, then Im out. Im not wasting any more of my life watching this coach lead the Hoosiers. The only hope I have at this point is we tank the rest of the way and Glass/McRobbie are forced to make a change.

Michigan got a new president who knew nothing about sports, and still got Harbaugh. Just saying.
-
According to a mod on another site McRobbie is now involved. I guess those closed wallets are speaking loudly.
