I guess i dont understand why people want him back in Assembly Hall. The guy is beyond resentful. Indiana fans need to just move past him. To be honest, when I think of Indiana basketball, I think of where I want it to go, not where its been. Knight like our glory years are well past us. Todays coaches have passed Lnight by as well. Lets find a new coach that will take us to the top and be done talking about this old angry man.

He was an assistant before he got the KU job. Wouldnt say he worked his way up. Im not a fan of Roy and think he is wildly over rated. Add in the dirty tactics to land players and he built his rep on a house of cards.

I would be ecstatic with Marshall. He is a top 5 coach in the game today, imo. To be honest, with equal talent, Coach K might be the only coach in college id take over Marshall for one game. Was on DD radio show today. What he saod about his program is basically what every IU fans wants in Bloomington. It made me wondwr if Dan knows something and had him on.

We fired our football coach bc IU was about to get sued. Totally different than marshall. I got that info from a friend who knows someone on the OSU football staff.

For all those people who say we cant blow this hire, then you have to get Sean Miller, Tony Bennett, or Gregg Marshall. Those are the only sure fire guys at Indiana. Anyone else not named Stevens or Donovan are a risk.

Absolutely agree. Marshall would be fantastic. The other 2 are safer bets because they have proven it at the high major level. If you get to tier 3, you land guys like Archie Miller, who are still an upgrade.

The luster has been long gone. But the benifits of Indiana will always be there. Money, support, facilities, recruiting hot bed. Thats enough to land a quality coach. Im not worried about the head coach, as I am with just getting rid of Crean. I think he is gone but Im being cautiously optimistic. Once he is gone, Ill worry about who the new coach will be.

Or a guy who is happy to get his last show done.

Doyle wanted Crean fired when there were fans supporting Crean. Now fans wamt Crean fired and he wants Crean to stay. His schtick is to be a contrarian. Also, you can see something similar between DD and JMV. Their shows are back to back and they had different views on the Grigson/Pagano stuff. They also seem to have a differing opinion on Crean. I think its all for show. They need to have opposite opinions to drive ratings.

Actually, Bennett has had his offense in the top 20 in efficiency. Just like Wisconsin, when he has the horses he will cut them loose. Bo Ryan just went to 2 final Fours and played for a national championship. To be honest, Wisconsin in many ways became the old Indiana. Id be exstatic with Bennett.

Marshall and its not even close. I get the Archie love and his projection. The problem is its a projection. They both coach at the same same level and Archie couldnt hold Marshall's jock. Marshall is a top 5 college coach right now. He isnt scared to move up , he has been smart and tactful with his career. He has 1 move left and I expect it to be to a blue blood. Marshall is well beyone Crean, those who think they are similar, havent paid attention to Marshall. Marshall's fiery personality is a plus to me. I want a coach who will get fired up and not just frantically pace back and forth in a nervous tizzy. Edit: Marshall can also coach for another 20+ years. Age isnt an issue. My top 4 are Stevens, Donovan, Marshall/Bennett.

defensive efficience doesnt matter the conference. Archie Miller at Dayton and Gregg Marshall at WSU have had top 20 defenses in inferior programs/conferences. Saying Enfield wasnt at the right school is just excuse making. Just bc he breathes hoops doesnt mean anything either. Crean breathes hoops as well. Enfield hasnt been higher than 5th in the PAC 12. Currently 93rd best defense. Hard pass. You dont fire Tom Crean, and replace him with an inferior version of himself, Andy Enfield.

For the love of God no. He is Crean 2.0. His teams dont play defense and its always run run run. Highly entertaining, but our collective blood pressure would be through the roof when the same issues we have seen the last 9 years continue under Enfield.

The buyout isnt an issue. Its been talked about before. The cliff notes version is Crean can leave and IU could escape from paying him a dime, depending on how mich he makes at his next stop.
