Tom Crean to be next Georgia coach / 6 year 3.2 Million annually
Feathery replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
What’s i was surprised about Crean at IU was changing his style of play. He referenced it in his introductory press conference at UGA. When he came to IU he had a reputation for having a large playbook. He ditched the playbook at IU and went with a more read and react, dribble drive style. What confuses me about that is he was hired bc of his success at Marquette. Why change what got you there. One style got him a promotion and millions. Another style got him fired. He basically was saying how great his style is in his introductory press conference at UGA. Maybe it’s a recruiting effort. I never understood the logic in changing. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

Doesn’t make you less of a fan. My opinion on the subject is college basketball is a business. Basketball/football pay for all the other sports. So you need to treat it as such. When you struggle you make less $$. When you do well you make $$ and it also increases applicants to the university. Basketball is a window to IU for the outside world. It behooves IU to make IU basketball as good as it can be. Why not go all out and be on par with the rest of the elite schools on facilities. If I had my choice I’d rather have a chef and plush living. Especially if I’m not a one and done. I might not ever get to live in luxury again. -
Not really. Back to back titles are very rare. Romeo is a one and done. What Kansas does on the floor in the tournament this season isn’t going to be a factor.

Purdue always looks slow and unathletic when they get beat in the dance. They are a good fundamental team but they struggle when teams can match them in skill, but exceed them athletically. It’s why they will never win a national title. Gotta get better athletes to compete.
-
It’s all about matchups. I thought Arizona would play with a chip on their shoulder and blitz through the first few rounds. Evidently, they just wanted to be done mentally and got steamrolled. Ive enjoyed the dance as much as I can, considering there is no IU to watch.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Feathery replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yep. I remember watching Parea, Hollowell, and Patterson and didn’t see what the fuss was about. I’m not a paid scout and only watched each play 1 time. I chalked it up to a bad day for them. Turns out my initial impression of Parea just being an athlete, Hollowell decent but not great player, Patterson gritty but shot wasn’t great were correct. All were vastly overrated and that was the last class Cream went all in on with Indiana kids. He just took the wrong kids. -

But is Mack’s girlfriend living in Louisville? -
(2018) G/F Damezi Anderson to Detroit Mercy

I think Damezi will benefit from collegiant strength training. I’m not expecting much from him early in his career. Should be solid as a upper classmen. -

So Romeo hasn’t announced yet? /s -
Give me Romeo. I think Lineup A is a conference title contender. Lineup B is a NCAA tournament team.

Looks like Vandy just lost a couple of players. This was not a making space move either. Anchor down. -

C’mon guys he is clearly waiting to see where Pitino gets a job. Looks like Georgia could be interested. How does the new timeline coincide with players declaring/leaving early? He could be wanting to see how the final rosters shake out. -

What’s his username on here? I figured he was hiding under a rock somewhere or gave up the message board community long ago. -

Feathery replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
No, they would not. However, if they are just trying to build his brand, then all of this is for naught if he doesn’t go to IU. This tactic of brand expansion only works if he goes to IU in the end. You hear the crowds chanting IU. If he goes to Vandy/KU, then the hype and brand building is gone in the state. Part of the appeal to people in the state is that’s Romeo is one of our own. If he turns his back on the state school that everyone is chanting for him to go to, then he loses everything he built to this point. -

Some old timers from the original scout forum will get this. An ‘Insider’, high school assistant coach, was chiming in on a recruiting battle and said ‘Calhoun’s health is the word’. UConn wasn’t even in the picture and it became a joke for many years and several boards after the scout forum died. -

Yes but they were going to visit Vandy and they said IU would get a last visit. They then specifically said Kansas was too far and wouldn’t get another visit. -

I didn’t look it up. Got it from a guy on a different board who said he checked and Gordon played in all 3. -

It’s not true. Gordon played in all 3 without issue. -

I’d like to reread the article of his fathers quote. I remember I saw a lot of people jumping off a cliff with confirmation bias of other posters and not what he actually said. When I originally read the article I though giving Indiana the last visit was fantastic news and not a doomsday, IU isn’t in the lead that others did. I just don’t remember which article it’s in and I’m not fishing through this thread to find it. Haha -

Indiana Romeo is an Adidas kid, that eliminates Vanderbilt/Nike. They will not be visiting Kansas bc it’s too far, per Romeo’s father. That leaves Indiana as the close Adidas school. Isn’t that what Fred Glass would call a double check mark? -
