Ok, someone take me through the Arch Manning generational talent thing. Putting aside that this is a 1st start in a tough environment, what my fan-level eye sees is a kid with good size and a nice frame, quick feet and good movement, plus overall athleticism, good but not special arm strength, a compact but not lightning quick release, not naturally accurate and looks to be processing what he’s seeing pretty slowly. Yeah, he’ll get better on some of that with experience and maturity, but if his name is Arch Martin is he a thing?

Announcer on the Purdue game just described sunny and 68 degrees with no wind as “a crisp chill.” Ok, maybe if you live on Roatan during the off season.

He should have pulled the plug a couple of years ago. Last year was painful and I see no reason to think 8 months down the road will be better. Maybe, maybe not. Would think Louisville will make a hell of a push here because they were in on both of the Adidas PG’s and aren’t even getting a visit from Rippey. Imagine they’ll empty the piggy bank on this one. But IU can do the same if they want to and the kid with the Adidas NIL deal is only visiting 3 Adidas schools. So it’s certainly worth watching closely. Personally I’ve always thought Rippey was the more likely of the 2 for IU, but we’ll see.

Tennessee signs Rick Barnes to a “lifetime contract.” Dude’s 71 and, I think, has 1 more year on his deal. So signing him to something like a 3 year extension probably would have served the same purpose. But structuring it like that is certainly a nice bouquet for the school to throw his way and he’s anbsolutely earned it.

Obviously it shouldn’t matter much since scouting is 100% about projectablity, but how much of this is tied to Cig’s staff’s success with QB’s? Would Mendoza be on all of these early lists had he stayed at Cal?

Just noticed that among the 3 visits he’s still taking is Houston. Houston has been linked heavily to Diane. Would think they would take 1 or the other but not both. Should the kid jump on Houston it could open up the Diane recruitment some.

Forgot about that kid. Could be. The thing about Taylor is that he’s such an utter freak that I want him if for no other reason than to watch up close what happens.

No longer visiting IU, per Tipton. Feeling more and more like Ethan Taylor will be the big the chips get pushed in on.

The NFHS network is really great from a recruit following perspective. Majority of schools are on it. Some have announcers. Most are just streams from half court at the top of the stands with this generic crowd noise pumped across it so it’s not dead quiet. Set it up with the high schools of recruits favorited and it sends you reminders every day of who’s playing that night. Absolutely love it.
