  1. That kid is a '19? Physically he looks a lot like De'ron, who's almost 21, except he runs the floor much better.
  2. You might be right but about next year. But I am confident that a 6'10" kid with that length, who can make open shots, make free throws and plays as hard as that kid does can have a long career in the League as a rotational big. Look at Lavoy Allen. He's got 6 years in already and I would bet my house that TB has a better career than Allen.
  3. Really nice clip. Thought the last answer about scheduling was pretty telling. I think it's the 1st thing I've heard CAM say that I interpreted as an overt shot at FCTC. Just a diametrically opposed philosophy. We'll get this year's schedule, "as good as we can get it." Bot kind of funny and absolutely true.
  4. The right recruiter combined with the right shoe company.
  5. Agree with his point, but calling the Arizona and Indiana situations comparable in order to illustrate it is just deeply freaking stupid. They were not remotely comparable.
  6. I'm with pretty much everyone on JBJ. I think he'll go, and I don't think it would be a mistake if he did. I don't believe TB is going. A kid who was smart enough not to even declare last year is smart enough to see the developmental value of 1 more year. Sure, Gelon or Priller are obvious for the other scholly. But don't I remember CAM saying in his 1st press conference that he didn't believe in deep rotations? If so, I would think he would view end of the bench/good teammate types like them preferable to 1 of McSwain/Green/Jones, who would really push for minutes. I'm going with McSwain as odd man out.
  7. Looks to have added some upper body mass. Thank God. I have this vision of him trying to block a Miles Bridges dunk and ending up in tiny, jagged pieces.
  8. Thanks, this explains so much. Couldn't figure out why Garland would be such an early priority for CAM considering Phinisee fits exactly what he said he would be recruiting and there was no way he was recruiting Garland at Dayton. Didn't consider the possibility of a contact from the player's end. Could be a lot of fun to watch this one, though I really hope we stay on Phinisee.
  9. Thank God this crew took to heart the teachings of the immortal Teddy Valentine and made the National Champioship Game 100% about them. Managed to make a game between 2 really good teams into unwatchable dreck. Guys, you made Teddy proud.
  10. In the NBA that's offense on Hicks all day.
  11. Okay, to cover my bases, any possession that ends in a Pinson jumper is a good defensive possession.
  12. Any possession that ends in a Pinson jumper is a bad offensive possession.
  13. Couldn't agree more. Maybe after Cuonzo throws a big check at Kevin Knox to come to Mizzou this week he'll throw a big check at Smith next week. Not to insinuate that Cuonzo isn't perfectly clean, of course.
  14. South Carolina is certainly getting the whistle they would have wanted going into this. They've initiated offensive contact the entire game and gotten call after call. If they call the late game the same way UNC will win by double digits.
  15. Alright, while I am confident he's the guy, that picture either makes him look crazy young, or I am officially crazy old.
  16. Hadn't heard that one. That would really hurt. If he's not coming here he needs to be far, far away.
  17. Very pleased. Terrific young coach. Midwest recruiting roots. Everything out there about him as a person is highly positive. What I really like, and this is the one issue I had with Donovan, is that if Archie goes on a long successful run as an elite Coach, he will be identified and remembered as our guy. Love that. We would have always had to share Donovan's success with Florida. Welcome Coach.
  18. Something happened tonight that I did not think was possible: my loathing for Alford was so all consuming that I found myself sort of rooting for U.K. Steve Alford made me root for Kentucky. in the immortal words of Doc Holliday,"Now I really hate him."
  19. You're right, and I've never understood those schools, particularly UCLA, compromising themselves for a B- coach. If you're gonna make a deal with the devil, the payoff better be a sure thing. When West Virginia brought in Huggie and his baggage, at least they brought in a legitimately great Coach. Payoff was obvious. Alford? Not even close.
  20. You're right. There's nothing that SA can really do to change the narrative at this point. My problem with it is that defending a rapist, belittling those that disagreed with him, and trying to intimidate the victim, are not examples of poor decision making that can be learned from. They are examples of narcissism. They are examples of a man with a hole in his soul.
  21. Agreed. There are several candidates I would be very happy with, most anyone else I would willingly support, and a single outlier that would be profoundly disappointing. I've lost my taste for worrying about it, though we'll see how long that lasts.
  22. Not advocating for Fife in any way, would be a hell of a jump from a couple of years at IPFW and the 2nd chair at MSU. However, Roy Williams got the Kansas job at 37 with 10 yrs as an Asst for Dean Smith and zero HC experience at any level. Believe me, not comparing the two. Just suggesting that the right guy with the right qualities has a chance to overcome some deficiencies. And yes, I would take Fife over Alford.
  23. Can't help you on this one. I will not root 1 day for Steve Alford. And I don't say that easily. I have been in love with IU basketball since I was 11, and I'm 55.
  24. Florida is a terrible matchup for UVA. 2 tough, efficient teams, except 1 has demonstrably better athletes. I think if they played 10 times, Florida probably wins 7 or 8. I don't see any exploitable matchups for UVA.
