2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves
Demo replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Good comparison. Almost without exception(Illinois) the defensive gameplans in the halfcourt against this team were essentially the same. The only players on the perimeter that teams didn’t consistently shade the lane or double off of were Langford and Green. That’s it. Langford was obviously a different animal, but the only guy that other teams weren’t fine with giving open looks to was Green. So, if anything, I think this was a worse shooting team than the stats suggest. They weren’t missing tough contested looks, they were missing open look after open look. Really inhibited Langford’s game. A kid like Cline might have shot north of 50% getting the kinds of looks that Rob or Durham or Smith were getting. -
Go back and rewatch the IU game, either of the Minnesota games, the Northwestern game, the Nebraska game, the FSU game, and about a half dozen others. Edwards is dynamic. He’s also a remorseless gunner who has shot them out of as many games as he’s won them. He was not B1G POY.

Would be really surprised if this went anywhere at all. 90% of these guys can sell him that they’re just going to give him the ball and it’s his team. IU is one of the 10% where he’d be sharing it. I’m going with the Lewis/Watford Memphis parlay. They’re then able to get Lewis eligible next year. Expectations become insane. And they underachieve. -

Don’t really share the Brunk love. Personally, I would prioritize a non-floor stretching, non-shot blocking extra big far behind another wing scorer and a 2nd PG. But since Archie’s is the only vision that matters. if he wants the kid, by all means go get him. 2 other things: 1) How is it possible for a 6’11” interior big to have 9 blocked shots in almost 800 minutes of college basketball? Luka Garza, who is completely landlocked, had 17 this year in basically that many minutes. 2) Total aside, but Desmond Bane really needs to go ahead and transfer to Bloomington for his Sr year. Talk about a perfect fit, and that kid is just a rock solid player. Oh well, a fan can dream -
(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU

If Prohm is interested you just make that hire and call it a day. Really good coach. But didn’t he say over the weekend that he’s staying at ISU? Bama could certainly throw a bunch of money at him. -
Exactly correct. Green will never be a PG. A player can only play the game the way he sees it and Green sees the game as a scorer. Asking him to run the offense and facilitate creates hesitation, indecision and he short circuits. That’s why I really think priority 1 for next year is finding a 2nd PG over another big.

True, but nobody in cbb gets a better whistle than Grant Williams.
-
Moss is literally the last option on the floor. What is he doing? And that was an obvious walk by Williams before the Bone 3.
-
Bohannon hits that shot 10 out of 10 against IU
-
Thought this was a pretty bad matchup for Iowa. But I thought they’d compete. What an embarrassment.
-
Between what Michigan did to them and what Purdue is doing to them, I’m gonna go ahead and say that Nova wants no part of the Big Ten again for awhile.
-
Murray St couldn’t have gotten a better matchup than Marquette. And they couldn’t have gotten a worse one than Florida St. Morant is obviously the best player on the floor. But the next 10 best players are all Florida St. Florida St’s guards are outrebounding Murray’s bigs.

Since when is sliding 6 ft with the ball not a walk? Glad it didn’t matter.
-
Kept hearing all year how good Utah St is. Didn’t watch them before, but they must have picked a bad night to be lousy. But there lack of athleticism is just glaring. Not sure how good they can be unless they’re just making everything. And the Dickerson kid from Wash has just abused their kid in the post.

Looking forward to Buffalo-Texas Tech more than any other game this weekend. Those teams really leave it on the floor. No idea how it’s gonna go. Could be played in the 60’s and could be played in the 80’s.

The most disrespected on court moment of my life was courtesy of Ark Coach Mike Anderson. Went with some of my teammates over to Tulsa U to play with some of the TU guys, one of whom was Anderson. Got loose on the baseline for what I thought was an easy layup. Anderson, who was a 6’9” ATHLETE, closed about 10’ and spiked my layup off the board so hard that it sounded like a gunshot. He runs down next to me and says, “Man, you got NO chance in here.” No problem. Couple of games later, I get free into the lane, I see Greg Stewart, another 6’9” kid, out of the corner of my eye so I throw up a little teardrop. I did not see Anderson, who goes up and just catches my shot out of the air. I crash into him and am laying on the ground. He is standing over me, palming my shot, looks down at me, and says, “Boy, what did I TELL you?” Yeah, I learned that time, only jumpers for me after that. Played over there a few times and Anderson was a really good dude. Glad he’s done well.

Ok, I’ll try to help. One is a 6’8” kid who has gotten it done in one of the best Conferences in the State and who, because of both class and timing, is someone one would have to look at and make a relatively quick judgement about. The other is a 6’ kid who has gotten it done against a bunch of kids whose next career step is Church league. A kid who at the moment lacks the athleticism to play high D1, hence the reason he has, I believe, 0 offers but since he’s over 2 years from entering college has the time and opportunity to perhaps develop. Hence, he’s a follow, rather than an offer. -

http://inbasketballsource.com/recruiting-news/6072-jake-laravia-re-opens-recruitment Would love to get a breakdown from someone who knows his game. Snow called him the best offensive player in Marion County. Read somewhere that he’s a year young for his class. Doesn’t turn 18 until Nov. Interesting. -

Furst is so much better than that. If he plays the full summer circuit, will be pretty surprised if he’s not a consensus top 15 kid in the fall. -

Seen Valpo maybe 3 times in 2 yrs, so I’m sure someone will be able to provide better insight. What I saw was: lefty, good size, ok length, runs well enough, lateral movement is not good, not strong, fair hands, decent low post fundamentals, has a little jump hook, can face up and make a 15 footer, pretty good vision out of the post, defense is not good, can’t recover from a hedge, not a rim protector other than shear size, fouls a lot, mostly due to movement issues. If I were game planning I would just put in high ball screen action over and over because he has no chance to defend it. Might have a niche role as a 1 year rental, but seems like a fit problem for CAM’s defensive scheme. -
This is it, right here. No coach turns these games down. Calipari accepted an NIT bid the year after he won the freaking National Championship. You work with your players as much and for as long as you can. If people don’t want to watch, don’t watch. I get why. But I love basketball and I’m gonna watch every minute.

Assuming IU doesn’t get in, I will flat out be rooting for Tenn this year. My favorite team to watch. So cohesive and compete like crazy. Also, I think it would be great for the game to see a team without a single elite recruit and a Coach who was fired from his last gig win it.
