Agree. And Stackhouse got a lot of positive press for the job he did as HC in the G League. As outside the box hires go, like this one a lot.

NCAA declaring/considering NBA draft 2019

A bunch of Iowa fans on twitter suggesting Iowa will be better without Cook. Uh huh. Recency bias of the highest order. -

I’m sure the thumb contributed to some of the inconsistency in his release. But it didn’t impact the inconsistent footwork, body position and landing point. That stuff just needs a good bit of refinement. I think the thumb may have bothered him more in traffic situations around the rim. Sometimes he could take the ball up through contact easily and other times it seemed to be an issue. -
When Dan’s doing a game and he’s really locked in to the x’s and o’s I think he’s exceptional. But when he’s Dan being Dan.....insufferable.

(2019) SG Lester Quinones to Memphis
Demo replied to ap2345's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I’m watching IMG play Sunrise Christian in the Geico Showcase right now. Quinones isn’t here and the announcers haven’t noted his absence. Don’t remember hearing about an injury. Is he out of IMG and I just missed it? Anybody got anything? -

I am really sorry to hear this one. Was probably his biggest fan on this board. I think that kid had a chance to be a really useful player eventually. Sitting a year and developing physically will do him good. Best of luck. -
Obviously I’m just talking, but I’d guess a couple of things. There’s been a decent amount written speculating that Pitino’s relationship with the Minn AD is pretty strained. Given the coaching arms race that seems to be going on in the SEC, Arkansas would almost certainly pay a good bit more. Pitino’s now been there 6 yrs, so I think where he has the program now is probably about their ceiling with him, and he might view Arkansas as having a higher one, which I think is true. If I were him, that move would interest me.

McCaffery would be leaving probably the 2nd best starting 5 in the Conference next year. I would think that alone would make him very expensive for Arkansas. Pitino, on the other hand, would probably come very reasonably and I’m sure would be very interested.

Yeah, I love his talent, but 1 of the 15 greatest players in history is a bit rich. Hyperbole is really not my thing. -

Typical pundit hot take, but he’s always been highly respectful of Painter. Rightly so, Painter’s a terrific coach. Ridiculous to suggest otherwise. Perfectly reasonable to assume PU will be better next year, though I wouldn’t bet my house on it. Wheeler’s gonna be their key. Man, does that kid have a high ceiling. -

From Tacoma, Wa, maybe 45 mins from UW campus. So not getting too deep into watching this kid. -
https://www.latimes.com/sports/ucla/la-sp-ucla-basketball-cronin-dixon-calipari-20190401-story.html Also mentions Randy Bennett, Shaka Smart and Earl Watson. Personally, I think Randy Bennett is one of the elite pure coaches in the country. Don’t think he’s really wired to deal with that mess. Yes, Dixon could be a really nice hire for us.

Thanks for the heads up. Kind of a relief. I have no patience for undersized, ball dominant, conscience free, shot hunting pg’s. Pretty sure God put Markus Howard on this planet just to piss me off.

Wow. Seems awfully premature. Other than overpowering smaller guards with his bulk strength and being really young, not sure what there is to be super excited about here. Hope he can maintain eligibility.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Harris if he opts out. Tore an ACL the first part of December, I believe. Had a previous knee injury. Wherever he lands I would think there’s a pretty decent chance he redshirts. Definitely some risk there.

2019 General Recruiting Thread

Had nothing going on this morning, so watched Windham’s games against Center Grove and Carmel. IHSAATV is awesome. That’s a really intriguing kid. Good athlete. He has a very nice skill level. Flashed everything you’d want to see. Good looking shot, didn’t shoot it very well against Carmel but was 13-14 from the line. Scored at all 3 levels. Solid handle and vision. Played hard and with energy. Went to the glass. Played physically. Defended. Was extremely aware. I think he easily projects to a high major skill level. But physically, he’s not ready to compete. He got bounced around in traffic pretty good. Really underdeveloped. Doesn’t look like he’s ever touched a weight. I’m also curious if he’s actually 6’5”. I would think that if you offer this kid, it’s with the plan to redshirt him. So I don’t think you look at Windham vs another ‘19 kid or a Grad Transfer. I think you look at him with a year in the program vs Leal and Galloway and the other ‘20 kids. Depending on what he’s like academically and as a kid, I think he’s worth giving a serious look. -

Windham apparently had a big game vs Armaan Franklin/Cathedral in February. Can’t find a box score but had 18 in the 1st half. Wonder if someone from the staff was there that night to watch Franklin? -

Never scene him, no opinion of his game, But Ron Hunter recruits TOUGH kids. 100% confident that Windham has a ton of want-to. -
I remember his name coming up a decent amount on other boards after Sampson. I don’t remember him coming up in any remotely serious way after Crean. But your memory may be better than mine.
-
And they want......who, exactly? Let me guess, Billy Donovan, right?
-
Would love this. Have an ongoing argument with an old friend on who’s a better player, Jarrett Culver or De’Andre Hunter.

With Auburn, Texas Tech and Virginia in the Final Four, a prediction: MSU will be playing with walkons and student mgrs by the end of the Duke game. Duke may shoot 50 ft’s. CBS didn’t pay billions for Auburn, Texas Tech and Virginia. Only being slightly snarky. I fully expect MSU to be fouled into oblivion.

Cal is coaching a solid game. Pearl is coaching a great one.
