  1. You need to hang on to this prediction. With that length and energy, the kid is going to be a complete defensive menace, and it ain't gonna take long. Love him.
  2. If Archie wants him, then I'm happy to have him. Randy Bennett's terrific, so the kid certainly understands how to play.A 6'10" shooter who knows how to play can only be an asset. However, the fact that Archie wanted a kid with this skill set probably means that the inevitable, "Clifton Moore is killing everyone in workouts," reports need to be taken with a big ol' grain of salt. I would think Fitzner's 10 mins/gm would come right out of Moore.
  3. You better get'em early. By Conference season this team could be a freaking handful.
  4. Not just 3 instate kids. 7000 career points. Incredible careers.
  5. I love rim protectors, so a 6'10" kid with 28 blocks in over 100 games played doesn't exactly hit my sweet spot. But if Archie has a vision for him then bring him on.
  6. Well, since this is where this has gone.....Jack was the 1st thing I ever got face down, stone drunk on. Have not been able to touch it since.
  7. Whether or not Milwaukee loses this game you could make a pretty good argument for firing Joe Prunty based solely on the way he's coached this 2nd half. As bad a strategic half as I can remember.
  8. Eric Gordon's jumper is the prettiest thing I've ever seen in basketball. Beautiful arc. Perfect rotation. Just ethereal. Would rather watch Gordon shoot than watch any other single skill of any other single player.
  9. Isn't this kind of an odd player to reach out to? 4 star Texas kid playing at a basketball factory in Florida. Pretty different from what the model has been so far. Maybe a little like Stewart, but Stewart is much higher profile. Does CAM or 1 of the Assts have a relationship with IMG?
  10. Surprised as well. Also means Brooks is taller than I thought. Thought he had about 2 inches on Romeo at the Southport game. So figured he was 6'7"ish, rather than the 6'9" they listed him. So 6'9" is pretty close.
  11. So, Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, UCLA and ..........Memphis. Huh.
  12. I seem to remember Dakich spouting the same nonsense.
  13. Dude, ever since your epic Clif Marshall call, for my money the greatest hiring call in message board history, I am buying absolutely anything you are selling. Who'd ever even heard of that guy?
  14. Love how these guys slither into people's homes and gush about what great care they're going to take of their sons, except for the part about claiming complete freaking ignorance of what is going on around them. Wonder how many recruitments have ended with the parents literally laughing out loud at the Coach?
  15. About 90% sure, though admittedly too lazy to look at the moment, that this was the same account that asserted right after the Garland commitment that Langford was ready to commit to IU in the early period. So fwiw.
  16. Has anyone seen Taylor play much? His defensive plus/minus was the worst on an otherwise pretty good defensive team. Is he really that bad or is it a function of how he was used?
  17. Maybe, but I wouldn't think so. Taylor will play half of next at 24 yrs old. Went to a prep school. Had to play his way up the ladder from mid-major to high major. Is now used to an insanely high usage rate. Doesn't sound like the resume for someone who is looking to be the 2nd option to a 19 year old MCDAA. But if he is, man would that be cool.
  18. And if that's true, a celebratory halftime announcement at the MCDAA Game with the 3 of them together would make all the sense in the world. Huge exposure. But an announcement at the local High School gym surrounded by the locals and catered by some local BBQ joint? Yeah, not seein' that as the plan concocted by 3 future NBA players. At all. We'll see. Oh, and I don't mean to disparage the New Albany food scene, which I'm sure is spectacular.
  19. Not 100% sure, but when he was standing next to Damezi Anderson at the event at Southport, Hunter was a full 2" taller, Maybe a touch more. So either Hunter is 6'8"ish, or Damezi is more like 6'5".
  20. Not saying that to be critical of Phinisee. My expectation of him, based on admittedly limited viewings, is that he's just a notably more talented player than Walker. Little more size, better athlete, better shooter, more instinctive PG skills. I think he's going to be really good. And after a year in the program I would be surprised, and, yeah, disappointed, if he's not better than Walker will ever be. I think his ceiling is much higher.
  21. Agree. He's a tough kid and he really competes. Would be fine with having him as a rotational piece. But, if he's good enough to beat out a Sophomore Phinisee for significant minutes, than Phinisee will have been a disappointment.
  22. Be careful making the location argument. I made the same one with Garland and a couple of our brethren on here essentially called me an idiot. That being said, I agree that an announcement in front of the locals would be a positive indicator. But the kid is such a legend down there and so beloved that he could probably announce for the University of Pyongyang and still get carried out of the gym.
  23. Isn’t this the kind of kid who always ends up at Gonzaga?
  24. That Carter non-foul on the baseline is the quintessential Duke call. It may have been a close call, but 98% of the time that’s a foul.
  25. I agree with you...somewhat. Were our fans screaming for Beilein in '06? The one's who understood what he had done to resuscitate a stone dead UWV while maintaining a perfectly clean program might well have been. Most didn't understand. But those involved in the hiring decision did. And instead opted for a guy who was under sanctions. And they knew that when they hired him. Nobody was screaming for Sampson either. The Administration wasn't somehow tied to him. They could have hired anyone. Their job was to get it right. If they didn't have the foresight to hire Beilein, fine, but it didn't require foresight to not hire a Coach who was dirty.
