  1. If you take the names off the uniforms, may have been my all-time favorite college team to watch. One of my favorite RMK stories: after IU beat U of I late the next year a reporter asked him about Kendall Gill, who was then a senior. Knight’s response: “Boy am I glad HE’S gone. That son of a b***h can really play.”
  2. Would be a great test of Archie’s core belief on pace, ‘cause that’s a track team right there. The idea of a lineup with Hunter as a trail 4 is almost more than this old heart can stand.
  3. Have you been feeling less wise since? I never got wisdom teeth and I’ve been blaming that for being a complete fool my entire life.
  4. I usually don’t buy it when a player says that kind of stuff, but his tweet announcing his offer had a picture of Isiah while at IU. Love it.
  5. A game of Brown’s from late Nov. Couple of things: 1) Brown doesn’t start. Plays behind a couple of Sr guards and doesn’t enter the game until 8 mins in. 2) The kid is highly projectable. Athletically, he looks a lot like Rudi Williams, the JC PG that CAM kicked the tires on. Great frame, great length, jet in the open floor, almost Landeresque in that respect. Physically, he’s on a different level than Smith or Walker. But he’s more raw at this point than those kids. 3) Was really looking pass first and to create for others. Not sure if that’s deferring to upperclassmen or that’s just his DNA. 4) He’s fun to watch and he’ll be fun to follow. 5) His school runs Beilein’s entire 2 guard offense. Pick any Michigan action you ever saw, and they ran it at least once. Fwiw
  6. CAM seems to be doing due diligence on every PG under the sun in ‘22, but this is the only actual offer other than Thornton, correct?
  7. Good luck to him. Seems like a really good kid. Will be an interesting follow. If he matures enough athletically he might be an intriguing grad transfer type for a bigger school down the road. Shooters are shooters.
  8. Their roster is loaded with underclassmen guards. But it’s kind of the same situation as IU in that none of them are good enough to threaten a kid like Mohammed. He’s gonna go where he wants and he’s gonna play. Aside: if you want to see the textbook definition of a stolen kid, watch Kobe Clark for Georgetown. 6’7” wing from St Louis. Played on a loaded team and flew under the radar. Georgetown got in before he blew up. He’s really, really good.
  9. Don’t believe in “must get” kids, but the more I’ve been able to watch of Thornton, my Lord, that kid’s good. Both ends. You win NC’s with kids like him.
  10. Branham to OSU. Physical, tough kid. Right in Holtmann’s wheelhouse.
  11. Saves me from having to rationalize why I don’t think he’s better.
  12. I’ll believe a big time shooter from Philly gets away from Jay Wright when I see it, and not until.
  13. Malaki Branham, top 30 ‘21 SG from Akron, announcing on Wednesday. Speculation seems to be centered pretty exclusively on OSU and Louisville. Would think IU fans would be rooting for U of L for 2 reasons: 1) Have watched some video and he’s a talented, B1G ready kid. Would rather not see him at OSU, 2) A U of L commitment probably results in them backing off Aminu Mohammed. Should be an interesting 1 to watch.
  14. Yeah, I seem to recall Sam Story had a “source” who insinuated that Mohammed was at Greenwood, a school with a 100% college placement record, for questionable reasons. And we all know how sketchy Amaker’s been at Harvard, right?
  15. Man, I have got to find more games of this kid. Went back and re-watched the 1 game I had found and ended up in the same place. Like his skill level, but not his traits. Cal has taken some slightly lower rated kids occasionally. He took Cam'ron Fletcher in '19 who I've seen a lot and he's a really talented kid but zero chance he's a 1 year guy.But most of them have been high ceiling kids and I'm not sure this kid is. I don't think he's close to Kaufman. But Pearl likes athletes too, and he offered him. Trying to figure out what I missed. Yeah, gotta find more games.
  16. To the shock and surprise of.....absolutely no one, Jonathon Kuminga reclassifies to ‘20 and is taking the G League pathway.
  17. Basically agree, particularly if Hunter continues to develop. Not as high on Leal or Franklin as some, though I think they’ll both be useful pieces. But would love to see 1 more option that teams need to game plan for. Whether it’s a versatile scorer like Mohammed or a shooter defenders can’t leave like Longino. Maybe Geronimo has that kind of ceiling by the time he’s a Soph, though I would think a lot of his offense would still come in the open floor. But regardless, I think if Kaufman comes that roster has the chance to be really, really good.
  18. Nice video from, I assume, this weekend. Physically, he looks great. Skill level is obviously what makes him what he is. I think the athleticism is only gonna get so good, but he’ll be able to defend 4’s straight up. Not sure how switchable he’ll be. But a highly skilled stretch 4 like that playing PnR with a kid like Lander is pretty much the core of any game plan. Add a big time wing scorer and that becomes a really dangerous team.
  19. Watched a documentary on Netflix this weekend about the 1966 LeMans race called The 24 Hour War. Fantastic. If you’re in to road racing I would call it a borderline must watch.
  20. Mike Schumann noted that Bouchie is 1 of only 4 men to win Indiana Mr Basketball and a NC at IU, along with Benson, Tolbert and Alford. Nice company.
  21. You describe the track spot on, though I’ll be pretty surprised if TJD plays a 3rd year. Would be happy to be wrong. I think that’s why missing on Garcia was such a shame. Would have been a great complimentary guy with Trayce this year and the primary interior option next. Oh well.
  22. Asked about an IU offer about 11 mins into the video and the kid really does give the anti-Blake Wesley response.
  23. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f_YtT6vbs6k This is the only full game of Graham’s I’ve been able to find. State tournament game from March against, swear to God, Beaver Dam HS. Tallest kid on Beaver Dam is 6’1”. Between Graham and Jalen Johnson(6’9” kid going to Duke) it’s every bit the beating you’d expect. So not super instructive, but there are a couple of things: 1) was 4-5 from 3. Kid has a great stroke. So clean and simple I doubt he ever slumps. If you’re gonna have an elite skill, he’s got the best one. 2) His athleticism has a long way to go. He doesn’t run that well. He really has to gather to elevate. And the one that really bothers me is that he doesn’t change directions smoothly. At all. 3) I’m extrapolating too much from 1 viewing against a bad team, but he strikes me as a combo forward, but not in the best way. Not big or strong enough to play on the interior and maybe not athletic enough to defend on the perimeter. But, hey, shooters are shooters. Definitely going to try to find more game video.
  24. Really long way. Will be very, very surprised if he doesn’t take all of his visits.
  25. Didn’t get this offer from the jump. Everything about this kid, and I don’t mean this critically of Clark, screams anti-Archie.
