Jasper Johnson is announcing 9/5 from among UNC, Bama and UK. He’s announcing from his old HS which is maybe 20 mins from Rupp, which certainly feels like a tell. Not saying you wouldn’t take both him and Mullins, of course you would, but contrary to the way he’s often portrayed, Johnson is not a PG. He’s very much a scoring guard and the fit between the 2 might be a little weird, even in a system as open as that one.

Jeff Buckey’s Grace was released on this day in 1994. IMO the best album of the 90’s. Not sure Buckley would have ever been huge based on his iconoclastic instincts and how hard his catalogue and tastes cut against the grain. But what a freaking talent. I can count on 2 hands how many songs I love as much as this one.

Came across this today. Dogrel is the 2019 debut album by Dublin post-punk band Fontaines D.C., and it’s terrific. Great edge. Unique vocals. Love the guitars. And these are some raw but really smart lyrics. Love it. If Ian Curtis had popped up today this might be what he’d be putting out. Don’t love some of the production choices, but they’ve evidently put out an album or 2 since this one. Will absolutely check them out.

Remember watching a couple of his games last year and thinking he had a chance to change the way the game is played defensively in the same manner that Curry changed the way offense is generated. But that’s wrong because kids can be trained in a Curry-esque fashion even if they’re not him but Wemby’s utterly singular. No one can duplicate that.
