  1. If those are the options my order would be Drew, Few, Otz. Drew and Few are in a different level of no-brainer. Otz is no-brainer lite. And the gap between Drew/Few and Otz would be pretty wide for me. That just being extra elitist though if these are the three options.
  2. Assistant to the regional manager of IU possibly?
  3. The interest is Mark Tugeron wants to coach again, no one wants to hire Mark Turgeron, and being mentioned in the same sentence as the open IU job is good for Mark Turgeron.
  4. I think it depends which school of thought you want to believe. If Dolson has his guy, or options of guys not named Bradley, they're going to be playing basketball still. Likely beyond when IU is not. If the coach isn't currently coaching I would expect an announcement within 48 hours of our season being over. I think that will be the lynchpin here. If we do not get an announcement soon after our season, and the tournament is (presumably, unless we win the whole thing lol) still being played I would expect delays with a whole lotta smoke and rumors flying. My guess, probably close to bullet 4. It is going to be a long few weeks.
  5. Still more likely than Turgeron lol
  6. I think this is my read on it as well if being realistic about Stevens. Maybe it is BS, likely is not. But the quiet around it seems to point to Dolson knowing he has options who will take the job that meet the search criteria without off the court issues. This is a positive thing if true in that Dolson didn't get too far down the list. I think the field also narrows when those factors are input to guys we would probably all generally be pretty happy with. It is hard to look at our job, the revenue sharing, proven NIL, fan support, and not think this search could certainly play out differently than the UK or UL searches (just an easy example of schools that got deeper into the wish list so to speak).
  7. I can't remember who said it earlier(Edit, credit: @Old Friend), so apologies to that person, but this really feels like the first unobstructed coaching search in my lifetime where IU is in decent shape. I assume Crean was not forced or hired via coercion from boosters, but rather someone who wanted the challenge of a program that had committed seppuku. After nailing the Cignetti hire, I agree with you. Personally just have worries due to basketball being mismanaged at IU basically my entire adult life.
  8. Thanks for sharing, nice update to what is going on. The silence really is interesting. Seems like only a couple of agents are out there trying to get raises, and most of those seem like 0% chance type of guys. Really sounds like Goodman is the only person who has heard something resembling a no from Brad, but the not a candidate statement gets more interesting if Dolson already had someone on the hook not named Stevens. That would make the statement 100% accurate, but would be strange to happen so quickly-- seems to me it could only be 'true' in that sense if Brad had turned down the job a while ago (like prior to Woody getting refired) and Dolson moved on. Coach szn is fun.
  9. Stevens is going to be the only guy left on my list if these losses keep piling up for the hot board.
  10. Which is equally lame.
  11. I did not have two Jonah Hill gifs in the same day on my bingo card for today, but I support it.
  12. I think its less about slush fund per se, but parlaying it for access to the athletic department in general that those two dorks would never otherwise have or be able to afford. That was always the part I didn't care for. Yea they're "helping" student athletes, but I would bet on a lie detector it was more about two fans wanting to rub elbows above their paygrade so to speak. JMO
  13. I am probably a softie but I also feel for the kid. He came here thinking he'd be in the NBA by now. He has been put in a terrible position to get better or showcase what he is good at. There have been flashes sure, but playing him at the 3 has been criminal for development at both ends. I cannot really name one thing he looks better at now than when he was a frosh. I am not trying to justify his behavior (whatever it is, I have no idea) but this two years at IU could not have been worse for his basketball stock both transfer (NIL) or professional. His head has to be all over the place.
  14. Entirely valid, but it was so forceful last time it seems odd to me that it essentially was hand waving the job. And I am pretty confident Chris and others will hear if Brad is a no to Dolson, there is no logical reason that info doesn't leak out imo.
  15. I know my UNC folks had their eyes on the buyout going down next year for Oats until the extension came out yesterday. They expected him to get an extra year a la Woody then the buyout goes to 10million on 1 April I believe.
  16. I think the reasonable take here is you and others have not heard that he has told Dolson 'no' so there has not been any smoke that way other than Goodman. And the quote being so meh. The guy literally went on camera and called himself a Masshole last time ffs. He knew "not a candidate" would not be good enough for the IU fanbase to move on. So that's where I keep a sliver of hope. Just my worthless two cents.
  17. Welcome, nice post, also what is Brad Stevens doing talking to Goodman on Valentine's Day? Have we not rabbit holed how absurd that would be on its face? *Puts on tinfoil hat*
  18. I just think someone saying "it is 0%" and trying to pass that off as some insider sourced hot take is as silly as IT giving the exact time and date of the commitment (something, something siths and absolutes). Two sides of the same coin IMO. You do not have to be an officially licensed fortune teller to know the chances of actually landing Stevens are probably close to zero. Was it zero from the jump? No one will ever be able to answer that with 100% certainty unless he comes out and says himself that he considered it or didn't. Which is probably never going to happen if he isn't our coach. The guy wanted to trigger the board, and did so successfully...or he is a plant because kids need BTB Christmas presents.
  19. Getting caught up this early AM and come to find a BTB gambling ring was established. What a ride that catch up session was lol Do we really think Otz is more than a dart board option? Think I would prefer Drew, but if Otz's people are actually reaching out with interest that would be quite the coup of a hire. Saw the Big12 arguments, and while valid, I think it is more related to him peaking at ISU given their resources. I spoke to someone yesterday tied into Ames and the NIL situation is average to poor. This guy also stated if IU made an aggressive offer, ISU would have trouble matching (they already raised football and basketball ticket prices specifically to fund coach and assistant coach salaries). Apparently the general consensus there is they have generally avoided losing their best players because they want to play for Otz versus NIL being the factor, and Otz has stayed so far because he loves ISU and Ames. Take it with a grain of salt, but I thought it was interesting.
  20. Absolutely, Dolson cannot get left at the altar again. Brad either needs to be in or out. If he has signed and they don’t wanna announce until after the season, all good, if he is waffling and can’t make up his mind, at a certain point you gotta move on. If I put my Stevens-colored glasses on, that seems possible that a deal has been reached but won’t be made public until end of season. If I put my reasonable hat on, I’d guess he’s already said no and Dolson is working the post-Dusty and Brad list.
  21. One of my people down here was all pissed the other day because Roy came out in staunch support and they all thought for sure he’d get the Woody treatment and one more season. An extension? Oof
  22. Wow. I have a lot of friends not happy about that lol
  23. I think it was more getting one done to stop the questions. It speaks more to the fact he was never leaving Michigan in the first place after Woody got another year. Now you could, I suppose, hope that was because he (Dusty) knew he wouldn’t even be considered due to Dolson having someone else not currently coaching already locked up, but I find that highly unlikely. The most logical explanation is Dusty told us no, and knew nothing he could say would stop speculation sans extension. My opinion? Dusty was never leaving a high major that he liked after one season, and probably was never a realistic candidate.
  24. Yea if Dusty and Brad are off the board, it needs to be full court press on Drew and then Otz, which unfortunately means this goes for a while. It’s gonna be a long March
