I’ll say this for Beard despite being in the no group for him, it would be nice if we hired someone who actually wanted the job. Feeling like we are begging people to come resurrect the program is tiring. That said, my guess is Beard is going to be willing to crawl to every big job that opens until someone gives him a chance to be in a fishbowl again. I don’t doubt he has some affinity for RMK and maybe that makes the job special to him, but I’d guess he would have walked to Lexington or Louisville as well given the chance.

So McDermott is doing this with money that is decidedly mid. Pretty impressive.

While I tend to agree here, Woody is clearly either living in pure delusion or make it as painful as possible mode. It is clear from multiple games since the refiring he is willing to say anything to be seen in a sympathetic light, and is not telling these guys “off the record.” If he gets up and tries to do the they done me wrong song and dance he’s going to get boo’d off the court and he will deserve it. My guess is he doesn’t, but keeps talking to any media ear that will listen to paint IU and the fanbase in a poor light. I was thinking about the McDermott thing more, and I 100% believe ScottyWithaB, because I have serious doubts Woody has even the slightest idea who Greg McDermott is lol. The name likely means nothing to Woody, which to me, makes his info even more believable. The only way Woody says the words Greg McDermott is if someone leaked it to him.

We dust off the Fire Mike Woodson thread by about November 25th or so after a couple fresh blowouts.

FWIW Brownell signed an extension last summer, he makes 3.5 with set raises. I seriously doubt we would give someone like BB a raise to leave. His current contract would have him in the upper half of the B1G as it stands. My guess is he is angling for more NIL funding for his program, not any actual desire to leave. He has minimal pressure, Clemson is an absolutely gorgeous area to live with extremely low cost of living and nice lakes, nice weather, and has decent support for a non-basketball school. The Clemson campus reminds me of Bloomington more than any campus I have visited, but with the added advantage of mountains and mild winter. Great little town. I love Btown, and there are almost no college towns I would put ahead of it but Clemson is one of them in terms of livability. I would honestly be pretty surprised if he really wants to leave all that for IU. Smells like agent smoke to me. JMO

I don’t think we have to worry about unqualified people being in roles beyond support staff, and that’s why my read on the Zeller thing is mostly as people shitposting. I have to believe Dolson knows this hire can’t be a swing unless literally everyone says no. And if that happens we are cooked anyways so if Zeller is on the staff so be it. But I agree 100% the has to be an IU guy thing is dead. The chance for that died when we let Dusty walk.
