  1. Nothing shabby about Nebraska. They have kids who can shoot from three and we don't. It's hard to have room to drive when the other team doesn't have to guard out on the court. Success in today's college game depends on being able to hit the three and until we have that, our ceiling is going to be limited.
  2. We missed a ton of shots. Everything looks better when the shots are falling.
  3. I'm not saying that there isn't a way to constructively discuss individual player performance. But some of the comments after the past two games have been brutal and without any constructive criticism. I would prefer that some of what goes on in the game threads about specific players didn't happen. And I know that if I don't like it, I am free to not participate. At the end of the day, we all want the same thing or else we wouldn't be here.
  4. Conversation about how the team plays is fine. Debates over offensive and defensive styles, no problem. But calling out specific players crosses the line for me. They all signed up to play for the team I support and I'm sure they are trying their best to contribute. Nobody likes to lose, but the player specific criticism is, for me, discouraging.
  5. Don't disagree at all, but this statement is on the verge of opening a whole new can of worms.
  6. I think it would be useful if someone from the athletic department would explain what the concussion protocol at IU consists of. Something as as serious as this should probably be mandated by the NCAA and administered in a consistent manner. Maybe it is and is just not public knowledge. It is usually where a lack of information exists that speculation runs rampant.
  7. Love me some Sage Steele. Never get tired of those commercials.
  8. I don't think we're going to see "beautiful" basketball from this team. Ugly wins will continue to be their trademark.
  9. Given our ongoing injury problem and our lack of a fluid offense, if we don't play stifling defense, we are in deep trouble.
  10. Their pressure D is really taking us out of our game.
  11. We're being outplayed in every phase of the game right now.
  12. I think it's safe to say not everyone reacts the same to a blow to the head. Where on the head the blow occurs probably makes a difference as well. I just saw a video clip on the news of a kid hitting his head on the backboard trying to block a fast break layup. It knocked him back and down to the floor. It looked bad, but he got up and went back in the game a little while after. I can't believe he did not have some kind of injury.
  13. If that happens, the dirty recruiting accusations will really start to fly.
  14. See the referee who made the high school wrestler cut his hair or forfeit the match. Egregious beyond belief!
  15. That's the value of having upperclassmen in your program. Hopefully, that is what CAM is trying to build at IU.
  16. He's not great from 3, but he is better than what he has been showing.
  17. If there was someone else available, they would be playing.
  18. For years, he was who I looked to and trusted for information concerning IU basketball. A true professional in every way. What a terrible thing for his family to have to endure, especially at this time of year. I think everyone who knew him in any way, whether personally or simply through his stories, is sharing a little of their sorrow.
  19. In all my years of watching IU basketball, I've never seen one as banged up as this. I'm not sure I've ever seen concussion issues. Unfortunately, I don't think we will see this team reach the potential it had when practice began in October.
  20. I've had a similar love / hate relationship with Dakich that I've had with Knight, but that comment was inappropriate and unacceptable in this circumstance!
  21. Will he want to back up RP for a couple of years or can they play together?
  22. What is better, to be 3 and 0 with a margin of 7 points or 0 and 3 with the same margin. We are a team that is growing and improving with a lot of underclassmen contributing. The roster is improving from year to year and, I think, the future is better than the past.
  23. That he played two years of football and basketball at this level is a testament to what a great, tough athlete Buckner was. To this day, Buckner and Wilkerson were the best defensive backcourt I have ever seen in college.
  24. I'm probably as old school as it gets, but the lack of names on the football uniforms detracted even more from my game experience if that's even possible given the product on the field. Over the years, I've gone from opposing names on the basketball jerseys to not really caring one way or the other. I think kids can be just as proud to play for the name on the front with their name on the back as without.
  25. The expectations for the season were predicated on a much improved Smith and Green as well as a healthy Hunter and Thompson. So far none of those things have materialised. As result we are where we are.
