I agree with you in that Dolson isn’t going to get fired and I also don’t believe he should be at this point. what I will say that is 100% fact is that Dolson’s inability to move quickly and swiftly and instill confidence in those in power during the search empowered others to take the lead. Therefore, he is also to blame for the mess we are in with the basketball program. i believe he should get some credit for sure for what Cig has done but let’s be honest, if IU Baskebtall can return to elite status, this will quickly become a basketball school again, one or a few years of good football won’t change that.

I’m not wrong and never said they were the same. Some like to give Dolson a complete pass for the state of Indiana basketball and they shouldn’t. He was unqualified to be the AD and had no idea what he was doing leading a bigtime search and we ended up with another unqualified person as a result. When you take on a job you are not qualified for and have no experience in you get steamrolled and that is exactly what happened.

Archie getting fired was a no brainer, not some out of left field thing that he couldn’t plan for. To have 0 guaranteed top coaches lined up in advance and ready to go put us in the situation to allow for other morons to step in and say you failed, now let us take over

I will use Cathy language “there wasn’t some massive groundswell to hire Woodson” it was literally 2 people. so yes, it is and was his job to lead the hiring process and had he not failed on his first attempt we wouldn’t have been subjected to these two individuals sway.

It’s a pretty entertaining narrative that the AD had full control to hire the football coach after he was successful but had no control to when it came to basketball after he was a disaster.

There in lies the problem. What value is he as AD if he has no control/power? The basketball team and coach is the most visible/famous aspect of Indiana athletics and he got steamrolled.

Idk, we’ve been told he has the power on this one and he finally made a plan several weeks ago. the optics pendulum has swung in the other direction. It is no longer just the fans but the local and national media is also scratching their heads wondering when we end this nightmare. he looks worse every day for maintaining the status quo

We’re being told optics is important and the timing to be right. Sadly optics does matter. however, he has obligations in his contract that I believe he is not fulfilling. That not only seems to be cause for termination but also without pay/buyout.

I cannot fathom that this really happened. There is a ton of stupidity to go around but having a meeting like this or even approaching them in secrecy is a complete bonehead move. they aren’t important in the big scheme of things and you just don’t do that unless you are 100% moving forward asap
