I recall the post game interview and Calipari mentioning Bryant but recall it differently - more like Calipari mentioned recruiting him but was surprised how good Bryant ended up being. Regardless, they definitely went after another big that same year and landed him, could look it up if I wasn’t so lazy. As I know you know, “recruited” is a very broad word. A school will “recruit” a hundred guys each year, but only prioritize and really push to close a handful or so. I don’t think Bryant was one of those handful they tried to land but was more of a backup plan for them.

Both Bryant and Blackmon were recruited by UK but both deprioritized. They fell to us when UK prioritized others like Booker and can’t remember who the big was

I haven’t seen anyone acting that way. it’s fair to point out what coach did last year and what other coaches did last year but the need to throw in jabs is strange. it’s entirely fair to point out how slow things are moving along. Who are the college basketball teams in this scenario? Michigan, Louisville, Creighton?

That’s right. Everything could be A Ok and all a part of some ingenious plan but there are signs already that things are not going as planned. The fact that we don’t have a complete staff out recruiting and bringing their players here is a real head scratcher and also a head scratcher nobody followed DeVries here that wasn’t his son. That is one of the most important reasons to hire a P5 coach is to have them bring some of that talent with them and that didn’t really happen.

And none of the staff he picked are coming with him here and none of those recruits sans his son wanted to come with him here and that team didn’t make the tourney so what is your point other than to bash people on this board?

It’s hard to commit to a school when you don’t know who the staff is. Maybe that will get taken care of soon?

He wasn’t on my tier 1, 2 or 3 but he is who we got and will root like hell for him to succeed. it’s about me but not just me, I have two boys that I want to raise loving IU basketball and they are at the same age I was when i got hooked. i would love to have the same connection and passion with them that I have/had with my grandparents and parents. 21-12 first season and limp into the tournament

Are we holding open try-outs at the SRSC yet?

If we can find an under-appreciated player like tonje who we don’t have to pay 7 figures to that would be nice

We will likely end up with a top 10 portal class if for no other reason than we will have 12 kids. It’s quality+volume at play

It’s not his job to do it, but I imagine he could be a great recruiter. If I’m him I’m all in on that - I would be texting and calling all my friends and guys I’ve played with at camps etc that could help.
