Game Thread : Indiana vs Ohio State (12:00PM EST on ESPN)
schoosier replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I could think of a lot of coaches who would love to have this team not including OG and Hartman. Defense, valuing the ball, focus on our bigs, and we could do damage. -
Or another coach who crashes his Harley with his mistress in tow.
-
Good post on all fronts. Crean wasn't qualified and all Marshall has done is win. He's the old man at 50 lol, but he could lead us for a decade or two. I would be very happy with him, Donovan, or Archie. I hope we wouldn't need to look further than those.

Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)

Thanks for sharing. It embarrasses all of Indiana alumni and fans to see how Crean treats high school coaches. Isn't he supposed to be our best, most visible ambassador? -
Coach Search 2017 IU Candidate: Billy Donovan (OKC Thunder)
schoosier replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes! Crean has always been Glass' boy or vice versa even though defenders want only to allude that he didn't hire him. Hogwash. -
He had a skilled offensive game. That picture had DJ in it also; championship caliber team.
-
He must be a helluva coach with his location on the bench and interaction with the players during games. This always puzzles me; shouldn't he be sitting next to Tim Garl? Do we need any more mania on the sideline considering we already have Tommy Naismith doing Tae Bo, clap clap, pep chants, and suicides?
-
Really insightful and I like the perspective of his knowledge of IU athletics. What is very telling how time was spent on Glass and Crean. Specifically how Glass started in 09 right after Crean, so he's been there the whole ride. Then discussing truly great AD's like Orwig and how Glass legacy will always be tied to Indiana basketball. Kinda like what we have been saying.
-
Yes some interesting discussions. It does seem very odd to be in the majority now.

Would be hilarious to see how viewpoints have changed since the beginning of this thread. I think we're all on the same page 2017.

Bob Knight Returns to Bloomington,IN on March 30th
schoosier replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
A career that only our current can dream about. I will say the head bobs and thorax punches against our instate rivals took him to a new sideline low which I feverishly laughed. While we got home cooked on free throws maybe a tech instead of the above should have been in order? But then you realize "It's Crean". -

I see this as maybe a softening of his never to IU stance or just maybe that after we oust Crean; this is a sign from above that we will return to greatness. Wishful thinking probably and it won't make or break any of us, but I envision one day where he does come back. We can rename something for him, and I could see all of his players also returning for a very special day. The curse will end some day; just ask a Red Sox or Cubs fan. -
Game Thread : Indiana vs Purdue (7:00PM EST, ESPN2)
schoosier replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Our guard play definitely led to this horrible season. They can't play defense or take care of the ball. Got our butts handed to us although a better coach gets different results. -
I miss the General.

Gordon was gone regardless like you said. His staying another year was not a consideration. Sampson takes Tommy Naismith to the wood shed much like every other coach in the Big. Hope a change is made soon.
-
No doubt about that, but they were a talented group of players. Ellis had really good ball handling skills for his size and Thomas was a big, big man who could play. Sampson was his own worst enemy, and a little more player vetting combined with less cheating; he would still be here.
-
He recruited some really talented players on the court, and I believe he was a good coach. If the scandal had not hit, 2008 could have been a special year.
-
We have lost a lot over 9 years for Crean to be fired. We're here for Indiana basketball so it's about the wins.

Fitting an Indiana hot shot puts the nail in the coffin. Good lesson for the next coach. -

Horrible guard play. We forget we have Davis and McSwain becomes our first option? -

Talent. It's what we got but we don't play defense at all, can't block out, take care of the basketball. Just horrible defense. -

Just a good group of kids so Crean gets a thank you for that. I like to see them have some success also. We still have the second half to play... -
