I think the program has fallen so far into mediocrity that we are limited in who we can get from other power 5 programs. Why would a successful coach move. Your only shot would be a guy like Porter Moser who hasn’t achieved long term success yet. But the usual suspects like Oats, Mussleman, Drew, and even Pearl have no real reason to come.

Nah, NIL doesn't mean anything if you get the wrong players. Need to determine if Dusty has the ability to assemble parts at the P5 level. He's shown he can do it at FIU.

The problem is the portal is now. By summer teams will be set. If he waits that long, he's in big trouble.

Until you sit down and talk with him you really don't know. Can he take the model he uses at FIU and adapt it to a P5 team? That's the $64,000 question. It will be a judgment call. Archie could not.

While you may question the extension/raise, it is understood it changed the payment terms of the buyout - allowing IU to spread the buyout over 12 years at $1 mil. That's a rounding error and makes Woodson's eventual release that much easier.

Some coaches have problems with names. But they also have the credibility. Plus it’s a known issue and the players have fun with it. Maybe more prevalent in football due to the helmets. :)

This came out of the O’Bannon lawsuit where he was put on the video game cover and prohibited by NCAA rules from being paid by EA sports. It’s supposed to allow them to sign legitimate endorsement deals like say an IU music student could. Of course the NCAA being what it is was behind and there are now now rules and no enforcement. So it’s now just deep pocket friends of the program dropping bags of cash on the table instead of under the table.

In the past you generally had roster stability and you knew who was back and who was coming in. You could use the NIT to get a jump on next year. With a team like IU, most of the players that would play won’t be here next year. So what’s the point, especially if it puts you behind on portal activities.

There should be a dead period until all the March madness is over.

Problem is, as an untrue fan I have. I am numb to these guys. Last night should have been an exciting game. I should have been up and down off the couch the last 2 min, yelling screaming, jumping, etc. (Yes I'm freaking nuts). Instead I was just sitting there, watching -- ok, lets see what they do. When Leal made his play, I said good for him. 2 freaking weeks ago I would have been streaking thru the neighborhood and fired up for tonight. I don't know if I can get it back this season.

How about this: "Adversity is a part of sports. And we as a team have to fight through it. Guys like X are doing everything he can to fight thru his injuries and get back on the court to make a contribution. I see him everyday in the training room and he's put together with athletic tape and ice. Coach Woodson has us united and going in the right direction with 4 straight wins.
