  1. Watching IU and then watching other teams, it's clear they are fundamentally sound with eveything they do. Very few mistakes.
  2. Ok, enough of the this portal chit. It's National Championship weeks. There is work to do. :)
  3. Portal closes Friday, but IU and Miami players will have a few days after the game to enter. Unfortunately, the problem for the players is that decisions are already being made. So if you stick with your team until the end (like we have been taught -- see things thru, be a good teammate, etc.), you likely lose opportunities. Shame on the adults who are running this chit.
  4. But every org chart has the guy at the Top. Buckner was that guy as Chairman. As AD Dolson gets the hire/fire responsibilities subject to approval to everyone higher up on the chart. Most of the approval will be implicit for low visibility hires — say boys badminton. Those hires with high visibility will likely need to be more explicit. Unlike football, basketball was farqued up because the chairman was a former player — heck if he wasn’t he wouldn’t have even been a trustee, let alone chairman.
  5. Not just a trustee. The Chairman of The Board who in many cases can get consensus of the other trustees.
  6. Yes he is. He is/was Chairman of the Board of Trustees. They sign off on everything. He can easily say we won’t sign off on firing Mike Woodson. Just like he could say we won’t be hiring coach X. Again if the Chairman of your BOD walked into your department and said “I think you should do . . . . You guys would be doing it, and hoping it would work out. Now most Chairman don’t work that way because they understand delegation of authority to people who are subject matter experts. But Quinn thinks he’s a basketball expert.
  7. You’re management of a fortune 500 company. The Chairman of the BOD decides he wants to do xyz with your department, against your better judgement. If you disagree as a lower level manager, what are your choices? Quit? Grind it out until it fails and the error can be reversed?
  8. Money can’t fix it. That was tried and failed. Only thing that fixes it is coaching. Jury is out on Devries so far.
  9. Instead of trying to hit a grand slam, he needs to focus on developing and coaching up players. A team with the talent we have must play error free. Right now I see too many errors — turnovers, bad shots, bad positioning, etc. The Cig model is real And once you start winning, recruiting both HS and portal becomes easier.
  10. Frankly, IMHO it's time to start playing the Andrej project. We need something more up front, and unless we can grab a football player next week, he's what we got. Development starts now. Can't look any worse than today did.
  11. Need to mortgage the house for tickets.
  12. Don’t need any stupid injuries now. Just grind it out.
  13. Not going to get the calls. Just play solid and wind the clock down. One stop or on score and it’s over. If it isn’t already
  14. We have Oregon doing their “chit mans.” Have a good third quarter and finish this off.
