Lol, a rec league basketball team where Coach Wittenberg benches Arnold for making a shot instead of passing the ball to his son. Good stuff.

You'd be just a bit off the mark on that. And apparently you missed a guy telling us what we wanted to hear for the past month getting banned yesterday.

I'm underwhelmed with this hire, so here's a positive thought: maybe he can bring some dudes with him. I can't remember hiring a coach who ever did that. Archie should have, but he's a moron.

Under on 22.5. This program has to fight, scratch and claw its way to 20 wins every year now. No reason to think next year will be any different.

Hard to think of any comebacks until we start winning. Unfortunately looking like we're in for 4 more years of 20-11 type seasons.

I guess I'm hesitant to get excited if he's the guy because I feel like I'd have to talk myself into liking him and thinking he'd win here. I talked myself into Kelvin Sampson. I talked myself into Tom Crean. I talked myself into Archie Miller and Mike Woodson. I'm not sure I can keep doing this. -

If DeVries is the hire, that makes me think one of two things: 1) Dolson never actually had his guy, like we were led to believe, or 2) He had his guy, but that guy bailed on him, he had to scramble and this is who he got instead. Would love to be wrong, but that's my gut feeling. -

Fourth coach we've hired this past week, if my math is correct. -

So Thursday, we hired McCollum. Friday, we hired Brownell. Sunday, we hired Brownell again. Today, it's DeVries. Who are we hiring tomorrow? -

I think the Donovan/Stevens detractors may not be old enough to remember them winning big at this level. -

I think it's interesting how people were convinced Dusty May wouldn't come here because he just changed jobs a year ago, but we never hear that with McCollum or DeVries. -

So I guess DeVries is today's name of the day to captivate everyone. lol -

Coaching Changes told us Sunday that they had a "GREAT" source telling them Brownell to IU was a done deal. They don't know anything. -

Can someone explain why we'd potentially be pursuing DeVries? Is it because Iowa just opened and we're both interested in McCollum? -

Each time we've hired a coach, there's been little to no buzz about it anywhere until right before they were announced. Which is why all the hand-wringing over Brownell is silly. -

People actually still think it's Brownell? Man, this board has an incredible influence. -

I asked earlier but never got an answer. Are college coaches allowed to sign a contract while they're still employed by their current school? -

Hate to nitpick, but it's really 6 of 8. There was no tournament in 2020. You can't miss a tournament that never happened. Sorry, just kind of a pet peeve. -

I mean, look how long it took us to convince him Woody wasn't getting a 5th year. -

There hasn't been any "news." It's people trying to decipher cryptic posts and tweets and letting their emotions get the best of them. -

Take a picture of Tyme's tweet because he'll delete it when the new coach is announced and it's not Brownell. -

Did I miss something on DeVries? I hadn't seen anything about him anywhere and just within the last few minutes I've seen 3 different posters mention him. -
Every year, I have a "Doomsday scenario" involving a team(s) I don't like making some crazy run and getting to bask in it while I wallow in the misery of being an IU basketball fan. Back in the day, those scenarios usually revolved around UK during their run of Calipari super-teams. More recently, they've featured Purdue. The scenarios often require a decent amount of dumb luck and fortunate breaks, but the scenarios themselves still exist no matter how silly they might seem now or in hindsight. Anyway, with the news of the Cooper Flagg injury the other day, here's my Doomsday prediction for this year: Purdue gets placed in the same region as Duke, manages to reach the Sweet 16, and either gets a wounded Duke team that's still missing Flagg, or worse, the 8/9 seed that beat the wounded Duke team in the second round. Maybe Duke would still handle them even without Flagg. Maybe Purdue gets beat in the first round by somebody like High Point. I don't know...but after last year, I don't think I could handle another deep Purdue run.
