It was nice of CBS to show the start time of St. John's-Arkansas as 2:40 p.m. so viewers would tune it at 2:40 and be treated to 15 minutes of commercials.
On the flip side, I'm in second place in one of my groups, behind a Purdue fan whose remaining bracket is nearly identical to mine. He actually had McNeese winning this game, and I had Purdue. So, there's that. Being a typical Purdue fan, he named his bracket "IU Couch Champs 2025."
Not sure Purdue could have gotten a better draw. Watching the selection show last Sunday, when they announced Clemson and McNeese I thought to myself, hope Purdue isn't the 4 here, and then they were. McNeese wasn't even that impressive Thursday, Clemson was just epically bad.
I was following a CBS game on ESPN gamecast yesterday and when a player was about to shoot a free throw, ESPN updated the score before the official even handed him the ball.
They're getting close to being the Indiana of 30 years ago. They'd have to start missing tournaments and going sub-.500 in conference every year in order to be close to us now.
The committee did Purdue a solid this year. Gave them a 4 instead of a 5, and a second round matchup against either a Clemson team that got fat off a weak ACC or a McNeese team that's about to lose its coach.
If he really did back out again, it just further confirms my conspiratorial belief that IU basketball is a staged reality TV show where we can't ever become elite again because it would end the show.
I wonder how many coaches have ever watched the selection show with their team, expecting to be announced, and then 3 days later they're the coach somewhere else.
