  1. Yeah that’s the season right there. Dammit, it’s actually going to happen isn’t it.
  2. I was absolutely fine with Gonzaga going all the way, until I read the smug Washington Post article about how the ‘76 team “had their share of scares” while “Gonzaga dominates.” Now I just hope UCLA keeps it close to make that article irrelevant.
  3. Cannot wait for everyone to eat massive amounts of crow about this hire.
  4. Echoing the Knight game. I was in Nick’s and everyone was going apesh-t at halftime, only to quietly shuffle out when it was over. A kid taking a pee loudly exclaimed “well I’m gonna go home and kill myself I guess.” That’s the day I knew Archie didn’t give two sh-ts about IU and I didn’t give two about him, either.
  5. I look at it like it’s way past time for it to happen, and maybe we can move on. New coach, new undefeated team, new beginning.
  6. It’s comical, really.
  7. Gonzaga’s definitely gonna do it. Then maybe we can take down that godawful banner at AH.
  8. I also guarantee he’s exhausted from everything, emotional, and likely totally different when he’s not in front of press.
  9. No inside info, just gut. The key will be if Thad stays for a couple years to set the program up, and if homerun assistants come in to help with recruiting. Dolson seemed like he wanted Arch out, welcome back the former players, get a guy with a good media personality to be a face for the program, and start to bring IU into the modern game with an NBA style. The thing that’s got me most excited is we now have a lot of “IU guys” not there just because they’re IU guys, but because they’re passionate about where the program is going. That’s already far better than just a couple years ago.
  10. I think they surround him with a stellar staff, which is absolutely key. I have faith that Dolson is well aware that a total culture overhaul is needed, and I think it’s coming.
  11. Series of events: 1.) IU hires Woodson/Matta. 2.) Zaga finally matches the ‘76 season. 3.) Push that reset button hard, REbuild the culture, make Indiana a brand again, bring the former players back, push the program forward into the modern day. 4.) Win. Finally. Woodson is honestly perfect for the changing aspects of the game. There are a ton of intangibles he brings to the table. It’ll take time, but I’m here for it. LFG Woody!
  12. Have you heard Purdue’s attempts? Even worse, somehow.
  13. Someone must be tasked with changing out the coach name in THE song. You know the one.
  14. Yes. And if they nab some amazing assistants, which they should, I think the program is set up for success.
  15. If the assistants pan out, then I’m right. If not, I’m dead wrong. But I do believe he is setting this thing up for the long haul.
  16. I agree. Winning cures all. If his players like him and buy in, who knows. I can’t do anything about it, so I’m just going to roll with it. Hope for the best, expect the worst. Trust in the flow of things. I told y’all I was gonna be Bill Walton about it
  17. The problem is I don’t think we could have done much better, honestly. That’s where we’re at. It’s Hoosiers “my team is on the floor” time. Just gonna have to roll with it. As with anything and everything, we shall soon find out.
  18. Imagine not even giving a new coach a chance. Shows you how toxic social media is.
  19. NBA = kids wanna come here. It’s not a hard equation.
  20. Same. With an NBA guy, Matta, and some good assistants, this actually rules. I’ll eat my words if this doesn’t work out, but I’m ready for them to come out swinging.
  21. One thing I’ve gathered from all this: nobody knows anything. And that’s fine. I’ve chosen to be Bill Walton about it.
  22. It’s starting to look like this is the year for the underdog, which honestly I’m here for.
  23. I’ve been saying this all along. It’s gonna be some random person none of us thought to mention and we are all going to be let down. This is where we are. Forgive the pessimism, but why would I have any hope at this point?
  24. Alford’s hire would lose half the fanbase. If not half, say, 1/3rd. After the last few years of apathy, that cannot happen. There’s no way Dolson goes that route, and if he does, the last money they’ll see will be from an aging fanbase content with mediocrity just because there’s “an IU guy” they remember playing 40 years ago standing on the sidelines.
