IUBB vs. Illinois - Thurs., 1/3 @ 7:00
ElectricBoogaloo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Maybe our training staff is not teaching these kids how to beat the concussion protocol tests, as NFL trainers most assuredly do. Maybe they are healing fully and being cared for by the staff as if their brains and long term health are important. -

Kipper Nichols torched us last year I believe so that's who I'm expecting to step up for them. -
Classic case of young team playing to their competition level. I suspect they’ll still be competitive when they come to Bloomington. Especially if Frazier gets hot.

I was giving him 5-10 seconds to walk back and forth.

People generally are not concerned about the damage done to Player X while watching the game on Sunday. People are concerned about the damage it will do to their kids. You're right, the average NFL fan will not give up their football. I'm one of those fans and I'm far from die hard. The problem for football isn't that it will be banned. The problem is that kids will stop playing it in large numbers. Boxing is a shadow of its former self and football may have the same future. Football is a violent sport as you said. You know that, I know that. So why are coaches at all levels telling parents "your kid will be safe with me"? That lie doesn't work anymore because people know too much about the effects of playing. Football is violent and it wouldn't be the football we love anymore if it was a safe sport. I will enjoy it while it lasts and I will miss it when it goes the way of boxing.

No, it shouldn't be banned, but players should know the real risk starting at a young age. No amount of "helmet technology" or "heads up football" is going to stop your brain from bashing against the inside of your skull during a collision.

2020 General Recruiting Thread

WOW! Really surprised to see Illinois out on the recruiting trail. -
They would take him in a minute and all their sanctimony about cheating programs like UNC would disappear. Drew makes $2.7mm annually at Vanderbilt. Would Purdue want to pay enough to make it worth his while to move?

Indiana vs Butler Game Thread 12/15

I was glad to see Justin Smith break out his jump shot this game. I remember him having one last year and it's a pretty good looking stroke. Hopefully he can do that more consistently and maybe the lane will open up for him a bit. Right now it seems like he can't cut and he can't drive because his guy is always slacking off of him. If he becomes a threat from mid or long range other opportunities might open up. -

Thanks for the reminder, I was wondering about that as well. Broadcasters guessed that our bench was jawing at him about something but that was just a guess. My guess is he really liked Crean and enjoyed sticking it to IU for firing his guy. Who knows. -

Maybe he should look at Purdue so he can take over the Carsen Edwards role. -

How do all those attributes compare to Galloway? -

It needs to be since their conference is Division II.

Edwards tried hard to shoot Purdue out of that game (4/15 FG). Cowan tried harder to shoot Maryland out of it (4/17 FG).

OSU bench getting the job done with 40 pts. Musa Jallow with 11.

Durham looks like he might be our third scoring option honestly. He has been stroking it well from 3 and has nice touch around the basket. -

I don’t know what you do about Smith and Fitzner. We need them both if this season is going to be fully realized Fitzner’s closest player comparison is an unathletic Hanner Perea. His hands are THAT bad. And then he passes up shots on the perimeter. That’s why you’re there dude! Green got us back in the game early and then boned away 4 turnovers in about 6 possessions to let Penn State back in the game. Can’t trust him. The highs aren’t high enough and the lows are killer.
