Our assistant has been hired. Maybe just not announced but I know for a fact Kane Wommack has been on campus the past week. Unless something has changed my contact down there has told me he’s been around -

I think you’re correct. I would like to see stepaniak win that job. Nothing against littleJohn. I just think his strength is there as he had it coming into school. And I think he excels this offeseason. -

It’s official ballou is at IU. Great get. He took me from a scrawny freshman WR weighing 145lbs benching 135 to senior year of H.S. getting me up to a healthy 180 and maxing on bench at 295 and squat at 410. Even though he’s a big weight lifter himself he knows speed as well. He improved the whole teams 40 times. This is an amazing get for IU. Caton was awesome at what he did but bringing a former IU player. Who has ties to Indiana high schools and coaches and not to mention IMG academy in Florida. Freaking pumped. -

Another announcement to make if anyone is wondering about LB prospects for the upcoming seasons. Look at the Indiana football page on twitter. They posted a video on cam jones one of our signees. He’s a tidbit from it if you don’t have Twitter. “Over his final two seasons he had 160 tackles, 60 of those for loss, 34 sacks, 5ints, and 3 forced fumbles with 2 recoveries.” -

And this is from a 2015 game. Seems to have good footwork and holds ground really well with bull rushes. I like the upgrade whether he plays C or guard I’ll be happy he can mentor our young oline and im and idiot and forgot to add video. Sorry it’s been a long week -

He messed up shoulder I believe his 16 season. Richt and co said thanks for contributions after 3 years. We want to play this younger kid. You’ll be backup. So he went to rehab. Then has trained this offseason in Orlando I believe (where he trained is where some pros train). If there we’re still questions about his shoulder holding up I doubt the coaches would have saved him a spot. Great get. Mature and played for a good Miami team. -
Or as my first guess. Tom liked Caton. But deep down he wants his own choice there.
-
Idk I’m not here to start rumors. But it’s very fishy. I don’t have rumors just guesses. In my head. Maybe something tying him to Kevin Wilson has come about.

Keith Caton has been let go as strength and conditioning coach. I hope we go for ballou. He was my strength and conditioning coach at Avon. He went to IMG academy. Now he is co director of strength and conditioning at Notre Dame.

Btown fitz will not be moved to LB. he will be the husky position player behind ball or if ball moves to safety or takes more snaps in secondary then fitz will be starting husky. As a close family friend with him through my brother...he will not be moving to LB. coaches want him at the husky or safety making plays on balls or surprise blitz from outside. He’s ready for winter and spring to begin. He’s got a lot of fire built up

We should add 2-4 more as a whole. I believe. As Tom Allen mentioned this in his press conference after signing day. LB we should be fine as coaches are high on MO and company. Also we bring in several LBs with this class Cam Jones is and athlete that will be a Covington/Scales hybrid I college he’s 1 LB. McGinnis from last years class still has 1 year I believe, was behind our stars all year when he got in he looked decent. Thomas Allen will be interesting to see what he develops into. Aaron Casey is a safety/lb prospect. He could bulk up to outside Lb type player... Micah McFadden is also a sleeper in this years class. Watch his film 6’1” 220. Overall Wilson effed us with lbs. however Tom Allen has gone after athletic kids who can run and hit. I think we should be fine. We will be young but it will be okay.

Maybe, maybe not we won’t know now. I agree we avoided a possible distraction. To say he’s not a program changer. Eh whatever. Nobody knows until 2-3 years later down the road. Nobody knew Tevin would start rbu... But he is a pass rusher and played well in H.S. and has size. So good luck to him. Hope he is a program or position record holder at UCF. -

I believe for a LOI you do have to have a parents signature whether you are an adult or not. I might be wrong but from what I’ve read you do need signature if you’re signing a loi or letter of intent. If you’re 21 you don’t need a parent. -

For everyone that doesn’t know or doesn’t get the 3 school ordeal... it’s ben mentioned above. If you are subscribed to peegs you know what’s going on. If I take heat for telling information that paid subscribers only get then so be it and I’ll talk to Matt Weaver myself. But this is not on the kid whatsoever. This is on the mom. He has wanted to commit to Iu since the summer. He wanted to commit on his official. And he was going to announce Iu as his first school on signing day but his mother and family said otherwise. She supposedly finally was okay with her kid going out of state. But morning of signing she said nah. Fiu. Which is why you never saw fiu post anything...he never submitted his own paper work. Word is he talked and talked with family that he wants to be at IU. So that’s when he committed. It was thought that today he was going to get papers in as he is early enrolle. Well that is not the case supposedly...obviously...so do not hate on this kid. It is not his fault. He wants to be a Hoosier but family said nope. And before you say stick up for yourself....kid....he tried and it’s easy for us to say that as we are not his parents and we are fans. However this is an awful situation and I would really not like to see harsh words towards this kid as in his heart he truly wanted to be a Hoosier. I wish him nothing but the best and feel bad for him. And honestly for his mother as she is holding her son back from going to his dream school...thank you female version of lavar ball. -

Yes don’t get me wrong Mack was okay. But his stats basically come from two games. Charleston Southern....take that for what you want and then of course the finale against Purdue. Other than that he was super inconsistent and couldn’t get a lot of separation on routes. We will be fine. We should have Westbrook, Hale, timian, and whop as our top four with young guys finally seeing time. -

Look for Tom Allen and company to add 2-3 more kids. It’ll be interesting with the 4* center out of Michigan. Crystal balls have been flowing in. We already have a ton of underclassmen and as Tom Allen said in his interviews today they feel good about the OL they got today. This class has a lot of speed and athleticism and size. We addressed needs with athleticism and size on the DL. Keep an eye on the boys from southridge (head and Charlton). Also Shamar Jones he doesn’t have a high rating but he was a DL MVP at one of the Nike regional opening camps. Onto players to watch imo 1. At QB watch Penix. Weird motion, but he’s pretty accurate and seems poised. He also is a runner. Read an article where his coach believes once he gets into a college weight room he will be tough to get down and already moves pretty well. He’s no 4.4 speed but it’s more fluid. Also an early enrolle. 2. Jaylin Williams DB/ I’m going to call him athlete because he can do anything. Return. Tackle. Catch. You name it he will do it. I believe he is also an early enrolle. 3. Reece the Houdini. ATH. I am excited to see what he can do. He will most likely end up on defensive side but given a package on offense. 4. Cam Jones. LB. he is athletic (funny trend here). Once he puts on a little weight to his frame, he will be a scales/Covington hybrid I believe. Tons of speed for a LB. gets out of breaks and pursues well and has hips of a dB when opening up in coverage. 5. Stevie Scott and Ronnie walker RBs. It will be interesting to see Ronnie and what he can do as an early enrollee. He has power, speed and he is elusive. It will be nice to have Ellison, Gest, walker. Onto Scott. He is a big back but has speed to go along with his 240lbs. However Allen said today coaches on both sides of the ball are already fighting over him and where he will play. Apparently the kid was also a standout LB. feels good to be back guys. Had to take time off after that Purdue loss and getting kicked out of Ross Ade for sticking up for my little brother who was getting cussed out by 50 year olds lol. Great at day to be a Hoosier fan. Very happy this staff is going after these recruits hard and it’s paying off. I know some people are over Tom Allen and his high energy but these kids love it. And several in interviews said why the chose IU was because of this staff and Allen and how genuine he is and his staff. I believe it was Williams who said it was nice to find someone who cares and is real, he found out that through the process there’s a lot of frauds and fakes... class act we have with Allen and company. Cheers men and happy holiday. -
(2018) QB Michael Penix to IU
lucel15 replied to Yogi's Picnic Basket's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I’m back. As for penix. His throwing motion is a little awkward. However he’s a good QB. And for his weird throwing motion... he’s pretty accurate. From what I saw in two years as a starter (he transferred in as a jr and beat out their 2 or 3 year starter....) he threw 61tds to 2ints. Hats pretty good for H.S. ball. That tells me one good receivers lol and two he can read the defense somewhat and can place he ball pretty well. The coaches got a good one who is an early enrolle. Allen said he will have every opportunity to compete and start. As for Reece, Allen stated he will be used and Reece himself has told the coaches he is totally down with being a corner. He will get special packages. Again great get for this staff and way to put full press on this kid. Tampa connection is strong and flowing. -
Ok this stuff should probably go in college football thread but it's big ten and the team from up where it stinks. But man has Iowa either A. Given UP B. Hired Kevin Wilson mid week C. Blocked against senior citizens all week D. Or all of the above. The answer is all of the above. I have confirmed Kdubs on the sideline at the game as well
