  1. I would take him if he was affordable as a backup but guessing he is probably looking for major $$$. Doesn't fit production over potential.
  2. If what people are worth is determined by revenue brought in then I guess teachers, policeman, firefighters etc should all just work for free. If every player quit and we fielded teams of replacements, do you really believe revenue would go to zero? Value added is more relevant and salary also can't solely be determined by revenue as illustrated in aforementioned fields. It is insane players coaches makes multiple times more than doctors, regular teachers and almost every other field outside maybe overpaid ceos
  3. Maybe the problem wasn't in how much the players were making but in what the greedy at the top were doing with the profits. Maybe instead of coaches and players making 6-8 figures, tuition could be subsidized for the whole student body. There goes the multi billion dollar predatory student loan industry though
  4. It is lost revenue. Pretending it costs nothing is a load of bs. More than likely they end up charging non-athletes more in tuition to cover it If it was such a bad deal, players wouldn't have signed up to play in college. I would be jumping for joy if my kids saved me 6 figures by getting a full ride
  5. Those worthless free education
  6. we could put the 3 adidas stripes down the sides of the uniform...for a large fee.
  7. Wonder if this means positive news with sieg?
  8. Can get the lure of going to be a big name program of Penn State but VT isn't that. IU > VT Cigs > Franklin Location is a toss-up. IU is only 1 hour farther away from him than VT The relationship with Franklin or $$$ are the only things they might have an advantage in. We could outbid obviously but not sure how much we would have on the table and i could see Frankin willing to spend big to get the ball rolling faster in an important year 1 for him
  9. Cigs would get more out of him than texas is getting
  10. why would anyone come to IU as a hs recruit if they know the only QBs that get to start are those that have produced at other schools and transfer in?
  11. WIth OL, it's more about what the staff thinks they can turn into in 2-3 years. Most coming in from HS won't see the field much before then outside of maybe mop up duty or if injuries force it.
  12. I don't think Purcell is reclassifying to next year...
  13. Yea, I'm not worried at all about our QB talent and the staff going with the best option.
  14. on3 has Ohio State in the lead with us 2nd. Hopefully we can pull this one out being the home team.
  15. If we only want an experienced QB running the show, then we should not be excited at all when we recruit a HS QB. Alberto, Tyler, Cash and Jameson will never be our starter because they will never have the required experience. If that's our strategy, then might be hard to recruit hs QBs down the road. I wouldn't go to IU if i was just being groomed to be a backup only. Cigs will likely recruit the best transfer portal QB he can get but I don't think it's a given they would beat out Alberto.
  16. At least as far as QBs go. Although if Fernando goes pro after this year, will he go with one of his young QBs or want to bring in someone with more experience? We will have a good number of QBs but all will be youngish. Of course, Purcell won't even arrive til after that. I think I saw an article somewhere saying the team will be really young in 26 when many of his transfers from JMU depart. Likely still going to be tad more portal heavy in the 26 class than Cigs will typically want.
  17. With the transfer portal, you never know what the roster is going to look like after this year (and definitely not beyond that). Cigs also doesn't strike me as someone afraid to tell a player it isn't working out if he needs to make room. Too much depth might scare off McHaney but only if he thinks he is at the bottom.
  18. given the recent debate on winner of 1 gorilla vs 100 humans.... how many boilermakers would it take to beat a bison?
  19. Then the NBA shouldn't count either. Someone call up lebron :)
