I don't understand how it's still December and we're calling the season a wash. B1G has barely started! -

Allen was the correct choice

Maryland is becoming more than a "take care of business" game. They just brought in an excellent recruiting class. -
His dad, Dave Wommack, was the DC at Ole Miss before he retired last year. Sounds like another solid connection to the south, but he does seem to have limited experience at this point. I like the move to at least let CTA focus on the overall team, and maybe more on the offense as well. A little background information on Kane: https://247sports.com/college/south-alabama/Article/Kane-Wommack-Returns-to-the-Southeast-as-DC-of-the-Jags-43095206 http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2017/12/kane_wommack_will_serve_as_sou.html

IU Football 2018 Recruiting Class
Walking Boot of Doom replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
So our HC who's supposed to be a defensive minded coach landed some stud RBs and QBs on top of some really solid defensive players. Really reassuring to see this. -

IU Football 2018 Recruiting Class

Zero info or even ratings on 247. Offer list is... well there is an offer list. -
Yeah, and I think this is where we go back to the question regarding personnel. Who does he put out there? McSwain who has his fair share of mistakes? Smith who can't seem to finish a layup? Moore who apparently doesn't know the defense? I really think it's not as clear cut as we all hope it would be. The bench is a good tool when you have others who can step up without ruining your chance of winning. I think if we used the bench as punishment during this game the outcome may have been worse.

IU Football 2018 Recruiting Class
Walking Boot of Doom replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Thanks for posting, CCG! Really happy with this class. It's on par or better than Wilson's recruiting, and we pulled in a couple solid RBs even after losing DMC. -
This is what I don't get. There was the twitter post earlier showing the four plays where IPFW switched out on the perimeter, the ball handler drew the double because we didn't switch, and then passes to the open man in the corner for a three. Do people think Archie taught his players to do that? You don't think he also told them to pay attention to that during the next time out? The players are ultimately responsible for executing. Not preparing the team is when you go out there, play a zone, and just try to shoot over it all day without getting in to the paint. Knowing to switch on defense so you don't leave a guy wide open? That's just simply on the players.

I love reading posts that say “I refuse to accept...” “this is unacceptable...” “someone needs to be held accountable...” It was one game. Unacceptable to me means someone needs to be fired. Should we fire Archie because of a game? No. You fire a coach because they consistently fail to organize and prepare a team that can win. What’s the appropriate sample size? Well, there’s a thread for that. But it certainly isn’t one game. Saw a comment that it’s sad that it’s a slow 2-3 year ordeal to know if it was the right hire. Well... yeah. It takes time to know if one bad season or one amazing season was a fluke or the norm. We can throw out these hardo statements about what’s acceptable and what’s not, and act shocked at “excuses” being made, but it doesn’t matter. You won’t know until a norm is established, and this coach hasn’t even had a chance to begin to define the new normal of Indiana basketball. Enviado desde mi iPhone utilizando BtownBanners

I’ve seen improvements too! But we’re going to see a lot of relapses, especially in our more seasoned players who have had a different “system” further ingrained and developed poor habits for longer. I’m still very encouraged watching Al. The kid is supposedly a nobody recruit, who is starting and doing a lot of little things that surprise me from a freshman. Also, notice who didn’t turn the ball over last night? Al. Sure he only played 13 minutes, but he was the only one without a TO. Morgan has certainly improved as well. How do so many of you still not understand that this is a WORSE team than last years team that lost in the first round of the NIT?! I said at the beginning of the season this team lacked a PG, CAM wouldn’t solve all the turnover issues immediately, and it lacked star power. I was told his “system” would fix everything. Well, planning and preparation are great things, but execution is all that matters. These are the same players that cannot execute. Try to think beyond one game or even one season.
