What’s stupid is that you don’t seem to understand what virtue signaling actually means, but you claim our sports program is doing it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

The rankings are reliable, but as the class becomes upperclassmen player development and a lot of the unmeasurables help even the playing field. Rankings just say, in high school, this kid was ranked X mostly based on past performance. You can find good players ranked poorly, but it’s on the coach to develop them into that contributing player like the ones we see in this year’s Final Four. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

As one season loaners and much better understood talents, you could argue they’re more valuable in some situations. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

(2021) CG Jalen Blackmon
Walking Boot of Doom replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I hated JBJs defense, but died on the hill arguing that we’d be in deep poo without his offense. Spoiler: I wasn’t wrong. That said, there’s a zero percent chance JBJ nor Jalen have any success in an Archie Miller program with the zero defense philosophy of their father. Probably best for all that Jalen go elsewhere. 2019 General Recruiting Thread
Walking Boot of Doom replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I love how yesterday we posted threads from UK forums and roasted them for overreacting, meanwhile we have 18 threads comprised of "Fire X" or "How Do We Fix This **** Show?" immediately following a coaching search that included rumors of Bill Donovan, flight tracking, and arguing why we're a joke for only spending $3.5 million (despite complaining about how expensive the Crean buyout was). I'm not sure which reason for wanting us to win carries more weight for me: because I'm a fan and I miss the excitement or because I want the broken record trolls to disappear from this board. -
Yeah the winning combination has been and will continue to be to recruit the best 3-4 year players you can while adding an elite recruit here or there without forcing players out. Especially if OAD comes to an end. The Calipari and now Duke formula only has a shot with these elite talents that are so far ahead of the rest that they can overcome the experience gap, but even then the tournament is still unpredictable. 2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves

Free throws were certainly concerning, and I have no idea what happened there. Everyone did improve from Archie's first year, but are still below FT% from Crean. Regarding three point shooting, I disagree that there were significant regressions. Morgan - 2018: 53 3PA with 30.2% 2019: 88 3PA with 29.5% (I call that even, especially considering the increase in attempts) Smith - 2018: 10 3PA with 30% 2019: 32 3PA with 21.9% (He made 3 of 10 threes last year - way too small of a sample to establish a baseline and call it a regression) McRoberts is the anomaly for sure. He only attempted 19 this year versus 33 last year. Watching him, the kid had zero confidence. -

Agreed with @Free Jurkin! During the 1-12 injury riddled streak, Al seemed to become less confident in his shot as well, and began to pass up good looks. Don't get me started on how many wide open shots McRoberts passed up... This is all observational, but it seemed consistent. Correct me if no one else noticed this. 79% of our threes were taken by five players (in order of volume): Romeo (18% of shots on 27% shooting), Green (17% of shots on 41% shooting), Durham (17% of shots on 35% shooting), Juwan (13% of shots on 30% shooting), and Rob (13% of shots on 31% shooting). Something as simple as Romeo cutting his 3PA from 125 to something closer to 75 (Juwan and Rob had 88 and 87) may have made the difference in a couple games, especially if those attempts went to Green or Durham, or Romeo took it to the hoop instead. -
Not if you won games in the tourney. If you lost one game in the tourney it would have been to a likely top 25 KenPom team. Two more wins almost anywhere on our schedule and Archie would've had the top season (other than Will Wade who had a hell of a year, despite being a cheating fraud) of second year coaches. This season rode the line of exceeding expectations and falling short. There are a million reasons anyone could point to to explain this, but end of the day, Archie and boys didn't get it done. They'll get another shot this year, and I like to believe the returning personnel had a major year of learning and mental growth. Our defensive improvement year-over-year is what has me so optimistic.

Who got worse? -
I did, which is why I agree that he’s the one on the team most capable of going off. But I also watched far too many cold spells and terrible shots. I’m interested to see him play next season. He probably has the highest potential to be the leading scorer on next year’s roster, and he also has the potential to play selfishly and hurt us. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Unfortunately he’s even more prone to cold streaks and never gets as hot as what we just witnessed. You’re totally right though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
