(2020) SG Anthony Leal to IU
Walking Boot of Doom replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Palo Alto and Northern California are amazing. If you’re calling it overrated and also implying that maybe Indiana is better... that’s quite the take. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

To be fair, TDH does make it much easier to figure out what I missed on this board lol. -
I mean, they've clearly been cheating, but this is still hilarious.

For next year, I don’t really care as much about the B1G finish as I do making the tournament. Just based on recent history, it seems the top half of the B1G is usually a pretty good indicator come Selection Sunday. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Go ahead and make it. Only person stopping you is you. If you want, you can go dig back through last year’s posts. For the record, my stance was that Romeo did nothing for our lack of PG and question around Deron’s health kept our big situation uncertain. I really didn’t know where to predict we’d end up. Going into this year - I think our PG situation is looking up with RP as a sophomore. Our big situation is also looking better than last year assuming Deron is healthy again and TJD is ready for the beating in the B1G (I think he’ll have a promising but challenging year). Race also seems like he could be a big help here. I’m still not super confident in our post play. Improved 3 point shooting will help, but I don’t think we need a ton of improvement in order to see drastic improvement in the offense. I think we finish the year in the tournament as a 25-50th ranked team. Feel free to put all of that on a sticky note or whatever. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I want to see year over year progress, regardless of prior year results right now. That would be making the tournament, regardless of seed. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
(2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

Depends on expectations - I would highly doubt Archie is selling them on year one starter or 6th man roles. Presumably, he’s setting more realistic expectations: work hard and become leaders once you’re upperclassmen. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Given how fickle Indiana high school basketball is, not recruiting guys like Trey and Anthony will damage Archie’s chances will elite talent later. This has been discussed at length before. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Sure. So if we summarize what the top 2 complaints were with Crean, I’d very confidently say that a vast majority of fans would identify inability to connect with in-state coaches and players and lock down the borders as a top two failure. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Our targets fit the exact recruiting strategy the entire fanbase demanded during Crean’s years. Lock down the border and sign multi-year players. Can’t control when the state has a down year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I cannot believe you think that a recruiting class with two of the top in-state players, one of which is a McDAA and likely multi-year player, is underwhelming. You already said it yourself that it’s too early to judge 2020 recruiting. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I’ve noticed we agree on bigger picture and disagree on the little stuff. My BIG question for everyone to answer: Did Archie and the team demonstrate year over year improvement? If yes, why can’t improvements continue? Please answer this with the assumption that NO ONE thinks either season is acceptable nor that missing the tournament is acceptable. Also assume that EVERYONE knows Archie’s first year was miserable from a on the court results perspective. Discuss Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
State of the program
Walking Boot of Doom replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Couldn’t disagree more that the state of the program was sky high after the Romeo signing. That was a nice sign of a functioning recruiting strategy (which is literally still working) to lock down the borders and sign the state’s top talent. If you think that did anything to fix the roster issues, you’re fooling yourself. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Ditto. I haven’t seen any of our targets commit anywhere else, have they? Maybe the one Kansas State kid if you want to nitpick. Many are here just to complain and whine... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Man, why’d you have to quote this? These are the takes that no one asks for. Hope Zion smashes expectations and is the greatest basketball player ever, because being a fan is way more fun that way. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
