People were saying this preseason. Agreed that he shot them out of games during the season. This kid just had an insane tournament. I think our fan base really did not take Purdue and Edwards seriously all year, and we almost just had to witness him carry the squad to a Final Four. Remember when people on this site said that Purdue wasn’t good and Carson Edwards wasn’t deserving of B1G POY? Yeah. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Indiana went out and got one of the small handful of most promising and exciting young coaches in the game. Don’t try to rewrite the narrative. College basketball coaches and experts believe in Archie. I’m more inclined to trust their opinion than professional keyboardists. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

That 18-4 stretch also included 5-6 bad non-con teams, but even so, that’s about 12-4 against some real great teams including Duke at Cameron Indoor. I saw plenty in the 18-4 and 6-2 stretch to recognize we made improvements. That 1-12 stretch demonstrated that it was a fragile progress for a young team with potentially some serious chemistry issues. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Nothing about any of this tells Nebraska is more serious than Indiana. Indiana went out and got their man as well, hence the $3+ million salary. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I said from the beginning of the Romeo recruitment that I didn’t like the company of our competition. He was UofL bound before the shut down the game... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I don’t care what anyone says, I saw plenty of improvement in Al Durham this year. He’s played far more time in two seasons as a 250+ ranked recruit than anyone should ever expect. He doesn’t need to be a stud - just a player with some guts. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
You’re pointing to unique situations and calling it the norm and then making bold generalizations about a situation none of us have much insight into. In that 1-12 stretch there were plenty of games we were going to struggle to win even if we were playing together. Losses plus chemistry issues equal the disastrous losses we also experienced. All that 1-12 stretch told me is that something went off the rails, and that Archie and the team got back on track at the end of the year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

And so in what way does this prove Nebraska is more serious than Indiana? Hoiberg was also just fired by the Bulls, so... I’m sure he’ll be a good coach. Nebraska is going to be a tough sell for anyone in my mind. We’ll see. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

These are the comments that make zero sense. They gave Miles so much time to make a successful program and saw his ceiling. Now they’re taking a shot at guy who is pretty risky in my mind. Should have immediate recruiting success with the Bulls experience though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

To be fair, I did see rumors of Romeo sleeping with another player’s girlfriend. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
Depends. Everything is subjective. If you believe Archie is the man for the job, you give him a longer runway. If you think it’s another Crean type failure, pull the plug. Does anyone actually think he’s a Crean type coach? Does anyone believe he can’t have the same success that Painter is having? Do we think he can be better? I don’t think he’s the next Izzo or Coach K, but do we pull the plug because he’s not the next once in a generation coaching talent. Indiana has a long climb back to being a strong and successful program. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

That’s the opposite of patience. “We need X now”. That’s not how any of this works. This roster is about similar and our success will almost entirely depend on development. Things go well, I think we could make the tournament. We miss it again, and I’ll definitely be frustrated, but then we’re on to year four with a ton of upperclassmen and very little reason we couldn’t be like a VT or Tennessee. I don’t think people realize that there isn’t a one season fix and ultimatums are meaningless. The only thing that will determine if Archie is successful is if he can establish a strong program and maintain it. Step one is get to some amount of success. I see people mention recruiting momentum is dead. That just doesn’t make any sense. His first recruiting class was sound and well rounded. This second class already has a McDAA who appears to be a multi-year player and a four year, but talented, guard. 2020 isn’t even a thought right now. We’re currently recruiting transfers and maybe some 2019 spring kids. I saw some definite failures in Archie’s decision making these past two seasons, but saw far more promise, especially for a 40 year old coach taking his first gig at a major program. This will get a nice reaction, but everyone needs to have patience. Doyel posted an article today about the continuity at Purdue, from Keady to Painter, with just two coaches in 40 years. Programs can’t be successful jumping from coach to coach. Archie is a good promising coach with plenty of room to grow. He needs to make changes and improvements, and we have a few years to see how he improves before a call can be made. Alright, back to wallowing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
