It's difficult to throw shade at Purdue when they're consistently making the tournament, (often taking things to the sweet sixteen), while we sit here on the outside, showing barely a pulse for the last 40 years, (notwithstanding Crean's blip on the radar) and having only the hope of Spring football practice.

I wish I were more optimistic about the direction of the basketball program but I'm just not feeling it. Whether we want to use Bobby Knight's coaching ability from 50 years ago, or Curt Cignetti's coaching ability for the last two years, the common thread linking the two, and which I believe is missing from current coach DeVries, is that their teams were better by season's end than they were at the season's start. They both inherited good or average talent, but by season's end had created something better, stronger, and more solid than the talent would have suggested. DeVries, Woodson, Miller and even Crean's teams either got weaker throughout the season, or failed to correct fatal flaws going into the tournament. I don't know what the answer is, but in my opinion it doesn't look like DeVries is going to be it.

Tucker is developing into another John Randle.

I'll be disappointed if we don't win it all again next year, and I kinda like the sound of that.

I don't much care for the product on the court, and at least a fair amount of blame has to be laid at the feet of CDD. Still, there's less than a zero percent chance he's relieved of duties at the end of the season. Perhaps better talent, greater athleticism, and another year of implementing his brand of basketball will allow CDD to turn around the program. But I'm guessing it won't.

Giving up the baseline, again and again and again, was criminal. Launching three, after three after three, instead of working it inside to Alexis, or driving it with Conerway, is just sh*tty game management by the coach. Lately, Tucker looks a lot like a tubby drunk on the court, insistent on making excuses for missed shots while he waits on the next round to arrive.

After tonight, Dolson needs to seriously think about the direction of this program. I realize the situation Devries inherited was dire, but this team is not without talent, and the mistakes they made tonight are the same mistakes they've made all season. Poor fundamentals, excessive dribbling, excessive reliance on the three point shot, questionable combinations on the floor, questionable game management. Periodically hot shooting has been the only thing covering up a multitude of sins.

These are all dead leg shots they're taking.

This is fast approaching unwatchable.

No stats to back this up, just my opinion, but having watched about 75% of IU's games this year, I can't see that they're appreciably better than they were in December. They look gassed on both ends of the court, and the defense, what there is of it, is painful to watch.

And continuity wins out, as I suspected it would. I'm guessing Tino will stay here a while now.

I think Cig's criteria is going to come down to staff continuity, (Tino), versus NFL level tutelage being a drawing card for recruits. I have to wonder what, if any impact this has on Hoover.

When might tickets to specific games go on sale?

What a complete ****** canoe. I can't imagine why he doesn't get top end talent to come play for him.

I see where Miami is losing their RB2, Freshman Girard Pringle to the portal. Ran a 4.22 40, and was a 4 star recruit. Averaged over 6 yds a carry in limited action this past year.

You're right. That was five minutes of excellent oratory, perfectly describing the bond between school, coaches, team, and fan base. Lots of hope for future greatness in football but this team and players will always be uniquely special.
