Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
TrueHoosier62 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
There will never be another Peter Jurkin. Message boards simply do not get fodder like that, twice in a lifetime. -
The lust for money destroys. It just does.

What was that belief that Bob Knight imparted to Connie Chung, many years ago? To paraphrase, if there's nothing you can do about your situation, you may as well enjoy the ride. Not saying we shouldn't be cognizant of what's transpiring, but there's nothing we can do about the hiring, recruiting or portaling process, so we may as well enjoy the ride.

Random thoughts: I wonder if Luke Goode felt misunderstood, playing for Mike Woodson? I wonder if Victor Oladipo felt misunderstood playing for Tom Crean? I wonder what's more important; the five best black players, the five best white players or the five best players? Does the culture one comes from matter more or less than the culture that must be developed in the locker room between kids from all backgrounds? I wonder if we added Cooper Flagg and Liam McNeely to next year's team, if we'd still be having this conversation? I wonder when this world is going to finally get past the color of someone's skin?

Transfer Portal w/IU Interest

Bit of an odd question, but knowing CDD's history, his WV team's style of play and construct, and knowing who we currently have committed to being on the team for next season, who do you see as being a good fit, and necessary addition? I think sometimes, each of us look at stats and stars to determine who we might like to see come here, but I'm not convinced that CDD, much like Cignetti, thinks along those lines. -

Everyone just needs to chill. I've no doubt that CDD will pull together a complete roster by the time practices start. It'll most likely have fewer NBA wannabees, fewer lazyasses, more role players, and the potential to look like an actual "team", by the end of next season. It's a marathon, not a sprint. -

Well no one deserves Dix more than Illinois. -

Does anyone know if Josh Dix plays football? With the loss of Morris for the season to a knee injury, coach Cigs might be able to use Dix in the slot or tight end position. -

Where does Dix stand with us? Is he coming or going? Do we have a shot with him, or do you think his recruitment has petered out? -

Somehow I just knew we'd let Dix pull out yesterday without his signature on the dotted line. This one's gonna hurt. -

Do we know if Dix is any good at driving to the hole, or does he just stand way back and shoot? -

Okay, so like this one time, at band camp, I met Brad Stevens. Brad was banging Mary Jane Rottencrotch from Terre Haute, (she played the flute), and Brad says to me afterwards, "something smells fishy". I said, "Well, it would". He said, "No, I mean at IU". I said, "Oh." He said, "Yeah, I want to coach there one day, but I'm not sure they still want to win, and I want to win! You'd think after winning five national championships, they'd want to do the things that help you keep winning, but they don't. They just fired Bob Knight and gave his team to Mike Davis, and that's what smells fishy. I asked if Mike Davis had been with Mary Jane Rottencrotch, the flute player from Terre Haute, and he said "no, I don't think so". I said, it "well doesn't really matter, we're all gonna get screwed now". Brad washed his hands, sanitized them and walked out, muttering something about "never coaching at IU". -

For the record, I detest the phrase, "Run it back".
