They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
IUc2016 replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I am curious as to why you thought, college basketball players who are quite literally on TV and advertised as much if not more than most celebrities, would be paid a nominal amount for their NIL? -
Agreed. A coach who adjusts his style to his roster, and to just plain win. Plus he's a good interview.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

I have been vocal as well that Conwell was my first choice because he is a "shooter" but more than that. So I agree there. I do think the delayed timing of Conwell entering the portal has hurt our chances. I can't fault the staff for looking elsewhere rather than be left holding the bag, literally. Reneau as the main option at the 5 scares me. Not a rebounder, not a shot blocker, and a fouler. Not a good combo. But he is a machine otherwise. -

Yep, that too. Which was a product of the dynamic guards/wings. -

I mean, I think it depends on the "shooter" It is just my opinion but... I would personally rather have guards/wings who can score at all three levels and a 5 as the priority over everyone else. Once those are filled, then you add a guy who can stretch the floor as his role. Just looking at the National Championship game, Loyer and Karaban were the best shooters on the floor. They had little to no impact in that game. Did they help their teams get there? of course. But it was the dynamic guards and dominant post players that made them so good. -

If he wants to stay at the power conference level, he isn’t starting. So it makes sense for him to still visit -

Because there always has to be something to complain about... Fans been asking to play the game like other blue bloods for 20 years. IU starts playing the game, fans still complain. Yeesh Welcome to IU Oumar! -

Can't believe that $1.2 million offer was still good after he left campus. Take it or leave it, we got others. -

I haven't seen higher than 6 million mentioned from anyone with credibility. Not saying it isn't true, but there is a reason IU has a chance to land the top portal class along with paying MR, MM, and TG. The NIL money is prob top 3. Edit: Trilly has backed up this amount and Rabby has continuously stated IU will not get outbid by anyone for a player it truly wants. -

I just remember him going down with an injury when Iowa played IU in Bloomington. That feels like another lifetime ago. I thought it was the Romeo year, but after looking up CJ's stats it must have been TJD's freshman season. -

Other site saying Payne is trending to IU, I know he just visited but anyone else hearing that? Has been quiet on that front given the Ballo rumors. -

Still think we see one more transfer if we get two additional guards. Cupps would have a lot of guys in front of him... I like Trey as the backup point anyway, just my opinion though -
My goodness. Not sure it will matter, but he is tracking to be more of a national recruit. really want him to be a hoosier
-
No way there are four coaches below Kevin Willard. not a chance

I know I made it clear conwell is who I would prefer (I know it’s not as simple one or the other) but I am more than excited at the potential of KC. He was highly regarded coming out of high school and had a productive freshman year in the PAC 12. big time get for sure.

I agree about playing him less on the ball. I don’t agree he didn’t struggle, but that’s okay.
