They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
IUc2016 replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I so hope you are right. But I don’t know how you can say it is paranoia to suggest the offense will revolve around ballo. Given the three years we have already and the fact we paid him $1million (or close to it). the focus on guards this portal has been refreshing, but still a lot to be concerned about regarding the offense and who will get the most touches -
Transfer Portal w/IU Interest

His role won’t be to score double figures. He will be brought in to shoot 3’s and space the floor for 15-20 min/game. his offensive rating last season was 124, very efficient on low usage. -

We stopped posting up ware as much midway through the season and got him the ball moving in space instead. He was way more effective and dominant. I hope we use ballo the same. But worried we won’t. -
I thought Minnesota had a chance to be pretty good next year but losing Hawkins hurts, He was pretty good, when he wasn’t playing IU. Already lost Payne and Christie (most likely)

Gonna be July and we are still getting our shooter who isn't in the portal yet :) Kinda like Brooks and Reeves from years past lol With that said, I am getting my hopes up anyway -
Expectations for the 24-25 Season
IUc2016 replied to Unexpectedflash's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Most talent and experience since 2015-2016, probably since 2012. Expectations should be top 3 in the big ten with a protected seed in March. It’s hard to say they must do X or Y in the tourney to be successful since it’s a crapshoot. But we shouldn’t be playing in red the first weekend. like I said in another thread, we see you Woody. Prove it. -

Your post was before last season talking about the 23-24 season, which is the one he is referring to. -

Agree. Although, it appears TJ has him on all the physical attributes. I thought Rourke was slower getting the ball out than TJ and not as much zip. But by the end he looked to be in a better rhythm. -
Eh, neither are a point guard. They lost their three best players (storr, hepburn, and wahl). 2 of which didn't have to leave. Haven't replaced them with anything. I agree Blackwell will be good, but doesn't make up for what they lost to the portal.

LOL. gotta love old coaches who refuse to change with the times and hold their schools hostage until they retire. Izzy is 79-54 (41-38) over the last 4 years. No championships. And next year looks to be the worst of them all
-
yikes. they might be the losers of the offseason unless they make some portal adds soon.

You may already know this, but it is televised on BTN so you can watch even if you do not attend. -

The fact that he only has one year of eligibility left does scare me a bit. Usually takes guys a year to adjust to competition when they make a huge jump. But since he will be in a reserve role prob not a huge deal. -

He certainly had a tough year. But 83rd percentile in scoring from off-ball screens. Woody better run some screens for this man. -

I am not talking about where the money comes from and if that is problematic. That is not how this conversation got started. Zach Edey was covered relentlessly this season by EVERYONE in and out of college basketball. To think he would make a nominal amount for his name, is silly. Regardless of who pays him or how he is paid. That's really the only point I was trying to make. -

Says who? NIL is nothing more than someone getting money for their own personal worth on the market. That is exactly what this is. -

I don't think it has anything to do with loving NIL or not. It was bizarre that they could not make money off their OWN NAMES. That doesn't make them professional or amateur (which was always a silly argument) it just makes them like everyone else.
