  1. Recently yeah. Back when Haarms committed Purdue had him and another kid ranked pretty low but can’t think of who. Haarms was nationally ranked 352 https://247sports.com/player/matt-haarms-46035617/
  2. Haven’t we been saying that about PU recruiting for awhile yet these no names end up solid. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app
  3. I think outside of TJD, everyone on last years team needs to make a major improvement if they want to play. Race may be the next safest but if he cannot hit from outside Kopp will get more of those minutes. Kopp however will need to rebound better if he wants to get those minutes. But everyone, Rob included, will have to improve a lot Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. I see this the opposite way. Perhaps before this season that would be the case but for now at least we are a hot commodity and kids seem to want to be here. I could see strong mid major kids or perhaps kids who went P5 big programs looking at us as a team on the rise. I don’t know if we can sustain this momentum but for now I expect us to be a magnet for the portal. Now if we drop back to a .500 team then I would agree with you.
  5. Amazing that it seems so many of the kids that stayed or are coming talk about how Woodson wants them to improve in an area where they are weak. Miller talks here about how Woody wants him to become a better rebounder and defender. He is seemingly leaving a starting role at Northwestern to come here for an undefined role because he liked what the coach is saying.
  6. We keep talking about his shooting prowess but Miller sees this opportunity with IU as a chance to show he is more than a shooter. "I think the Big Ten will see a different player," he said. "Someone who's a versatile player offensively and more than a shooter. Playing in the open court, playing in ball screens and more swagged up overall, to be frank." What do you think his more swagged up role will be in Woodys 4-1 offense
  7. Guess we see if ol TJD posts any more we ain’t done yet tweets.
  8. I think this is a good point regarding a player like Galloway. If he is willing to put in a lot of summer work, be a gritty tough kid, play great D, do the little things then there will be a role for him. His minutes may swing wildly from game to game and he would have to be good with that. If he continues to want to be here then I think he stays and i assume if he stays Leal stays. But if either feel the new style will not fit either their skills or when they want to play I could see both decide they want to leave despite what they have said previously. I am just guessing but it would seem to me the one most nervous would be Hunter. Fife has mentioned the need to get Rob back to the best defender in the league level which suggests he is highly valued. Woodson mentioned the need for Race to improve his 3 point shooting and since he was planning to leave but came back I am sure he had the blessing of the staff to do that. Leal and Galloway are the young guys at the end of the bench that could be part of the future, want to be here and could be important players at least in practice. Have not really heard much from Hunter or the staff regarding Hunter.
  9. Was there more to the Twitter talk than the top one? That guy may be spot on, again as you point out, but it doesn’t seem to be blowing up based on 6 replies unless that is just a sample.
  10. I agree. Brunk is a 5. No versatility there. TJD can be a 4 or a 5 which is the same with many bigs. Woodson seems to prefer flexibility and it would not surprise me if he adds a big that can play the 4 or 5.
  11. It could also be "best available" at this point too. We have some options at the 3-5 so we could make room for either. What would be interesting is how would the staff play it if Reid gives them a strong feeling he is considering us but Kopp calls and says he wants to come.
  12. I was on the Brad train and even though we did not get him I am glad we seemingly exhausted that opportunity. Once we got to our next option I was not thinking of Woodson much tbh but I did post once that part of me wanted us to hire Fife or Lewis and then build the best staff, development and basketball program in the country. Use that $ for assistants and other developmental staff to make sure our chances of success this time around were significantly better. Go outside the standard if needed but spend that Brad money and build it. Then when the Woodson news started to break, a week or so before the Matta thing, I started to look into this option more and started to think maybe I should replace Fife and Lewis with Woody. I had a strong tip that he was in discussions about a week or so before the official news broke that he was hired but it did not seem to fit with the rest of the news from this board and a few other places so I was not sure what to make of it. I was hopeful though that if he came he could build a monster...but there was certainly some doubt. I did not hear about Matta though till the news broke on Woody and all of a sudden the possibilities seemed huge and as @kottke said, why did we not do this before Crean. Since he was hired, it just seems to get better and better. Matta, TJD coming back, Lander Back, Kenya Hunter stays, Parker stays, Gonzaga does not go undefeated, Fife, X commits, Race is back, Yasir hired, Bates commits - am i missing something? Seems whenever we lose someone, we replace with a better guy or one with potential to be better. We have one more spot to fill. He could probably bring in anyone and the overall transition from Arch to Woody has been a huge success in stage 1. The next stages (can Race and TJD develop outside shots, does Rob find his mojo, can Woody's plan be explained, taught and then be successful in college) we don't get to see or judge until we hit the court. Until then, it certainly seems as if we should not have to worry about a multi year rebuild.
  13. Yeah and Rob, maybe Galloway are better defenders. Personally I think we are thin at the 5 and I would prefer we add a solid player there. Logan could be much better than I expect but I suspect if TJD has foul trouble or even an injury we are going to need one more 5. Race can play there some but not for many minutes at a championship level.
  14. Based on his prior BT performance he seems to be ahead of Hunter, Leal and Galloway and Rob offensively. He brings a specially being a prolific 3 pt shooter and not just in practice or HS. If he wants to play a key role for a potential winner then we offer a lot. If he wants to play a lot, then he could do better probably elsewhere.
  15. Makes the Kenya following Efton Reid’s mom interesting. She was the one who announced his decision day was being moved and referred to herself as mama bear. Perhaps we are talking to mama bear about a similar focus for Efton.
  16. If that were the case he would have left this year. Could he grow frustrated with his role or PT under Woodson, sure, but I think that is the case for anyone on the roster.
  17. Well actually it looks like TJD is the dawg in this conversation
  18. So did KSU get better in sports during her tenure? Good to be a sport fanatic but wonder if that translated to improvement
  19. I think Galloway could be really good down the road but without an outside shot he will have limits. I would love to have him develop and be a force later in his career
  20. I could see TJD scoring less but being a better player overall. Add an outside shot, use of the right hand and with willing shooters on the perimeter he may elect to pass out more than he did this year.
  21. If say we had a chance a 2 players with proven D1 success against better competition then get them instead. But Mangas presents an interesting option with little risk. At IU he probably won’t score half what he does now but he could do some damage especially since he likely won’t attract the other teams top defenders. Not to pick on our bench but I could have seen him scoring a lot against them. He seems like an upgrade over Galloway, Leal and could push Hunter for minutes. That sounds like someone we should consider unless we have a definitive starter option in someone else.
  22. Not disputing your premise as I agree with the idea of developing who you have but how can we know if Galloway has a strong work ethic? Seems a great kid and I don’t have any reason to suspect he isn’t willing to work but I don’t know that I have seen anything to say he has a great work ethic.
  23. Man if I am Joey I would go to part of the country he loves or hasn’t been to. Probably somewhere warm and coastal for me Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners
  24. Interview was great but that backdrop temporary wall is terrible. Put him over in front of the statues or some other notable place. I know someone will laugh but not hard to do a little more. If Trish were on staff he would fix these things Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app
  25. Couldn’t the Elam ending still occur absent having a stop in action for OT Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app
