  1. I'm interested to see who starts this game. Kansas' starting lineup for their exhibition game is closer to what they'll start in the opener than IU. Lucas - Bryant That's the only sure matchup I see. Does OG guard Jackson or Bragg? Who gets first shot at defending Mason? Statement that will be repeated throughout the season: if we keep turnovers down and defend the paint we'll have a chance to win.
  2. Davis was hitting at a high clip in HH warmups. I won't be surprised if we're around 40% from deep again this year. It's not 13-14 in regards to only having one or two real shooters on the team. Edit: CuJo, Green, Davis, and Newkirk could have all been the second or third best shooter on that team.
  3. Yes, thanks for all the updates.
  4. Congrats Vic! Great representation of his family, IU, and just being a great young man. Definitely a player I enjoy following and seeing him do well.
  5. I know it's all coach speak but I hate how Crean has harped on not being at full go. I get that teams will have weaknesses and we should be ready in March and not November but it just seems weak.
  6. Having a rushing attack like they did last week will only help the defense too.
  7. The Rutger and pu are must wins for a bowl. The PSU would be the icing on the cake. (Yes, I get that we play PSU before pu)
  8. Down goes Braska. No idea how they don't flag Watt for running into a Wisconsin receiver.
  9. If JBJ records 0 steals on the year but doesn't allow his man around him that is a huge win. OG, JMo, JN, RoJo, and others will take care of the steals while playing sound defense. JBJ just needs to stay in front of his man, period.
  10. And another kick out of bounds..
  11. We seem to be struggling with the PAT vs 2 point conversion attempt.
  12. Damn! OG, calling OG. Cleanup in Assembly Hall.. McQuaid starting is interesting for a exhibition.
  13. It does seem like UNC is bidding time. Possibly waiting for Ole Roy to retire and then try to slide off on them replacing the staff that did it.
  14. Are people really upset they had tampons thrown at them? I might be a different kind of person that thinks verbal abuse (to me) is overrated. You control your feelings and emotions and if they let someone get to you it's your fault. I'm not excusing the behavior as I believe there are other more effective training methods.
  15. That's rough. Get better soon!
  16. I believe he had almost FTA as our entire team. Hayes made 17 of 22 compared to IU only attempting 18. Wiscy had a FTR of 77...
  17. If Rutgers wins 3 games I'll be shocked. Who will they beat?! Back to Rutger
  18. I see an 11-2ish noncon with losses to KU and UL. I don't think we'll be truly ready for the game out in Hawaii and will be overwhelmed by UL's pressure. UNC at home will be a big game and we know how big games go in Assembly Hall when the students get stupid! Butler and IPFW will be solid wins. The B1G slate is more challenging than last season but I don't see a team IU can't beat when they're playing well. Wiscy and little brother will be difficult games. An 13-5 type season would be nice and should have us in a position for the B1G regular season championship. Those last two games @pu and @O$U will play a part in determining the B1G champ. L's @Mary, @Mich, @Wisc, @pu, and that random WTF loss every top team takes every year. That looks kind of bleak for NCAA seeding. Big wins?.. Home to UNC, Wisc, pu, MSU, Mich, @O$U.. (nothing sticks out) Bad losses?... random 150+ RPI team we shouldn't lose to I don't like the fact the noncon doesn't have middle ground. If IU can beat 2/3 KU, UNC, and UL then they'll position themselves nicely for a high seed with a good B1G season. If we lose those two neutral court games we'll hear the same thing as in years past "IU can't win away from the Hall." Let's get it 24-7 give or take a game before the tourney's begin.
  19. I think it's absolutely true. I believe some of it is the generation before not wanting to treat their kids how they were raised.
  20. This is tough for me. I was raised on Knight. I remember hours of watching IU basketball on my grandfathers lap as a youngster. I remember him comparing every team to IU and Knight. I was that young boy who worshipped Knight and IU players. Damon Bailey was my idol. My grandfather taught me that nothing was given in life and everything was earned. Playing basketball in college was a pipe dream for me but if I would have been able to I wouldn't have played for anyone but Knight. I guess the structured detail oriented approach led me to the military. Like Wayne above I went through hazing that would not be acceptable to the outsiders. I've been knocked unconscious and participated in hazing/initiating that many would frown upon. In my case it was an act that you had to give absolute trust and loyalty to your brothers. If they/I couldn't make it through simple hazing how could I trust them to have my 6. I understand some of these tactics but it's troubling to read about them. The military breaks you down to raise everyone together. Knight implemented similar tactics and it absolutely worked. As players have said once you've played for Knight hell do anything for you. This is try through my experiences with my brothers. Sometimes it's better to leave things in the past and behind the curtains. I'm in no way saying it's right but it was effective. Kids nowadays are absolutely soft. This might be the more political correct to raise kids but you learn more about yourself and your abilities when you are pushed over the edge.
  21. They might actually benefit from Haas getting in foul trouble. They're a completely different team with Swan at the 5 and Edwards at the 4.
  22. Gnarly should get 3-4 post counts per post due to quality and quantity.
  23. They're big but slow. Haas is slower than most bigs. Swan is slower than most of the B1G's stretch 4s. They're two shooters are liabilities on defense. They'll get better when they get more speed and athleticism. They're Wisconsin-lite but not as good. They're probably top 5 in the B1G though and should be ranked for most of the season. They'll make the tourney but probably be out first or second round.
