He bounced around the league for 10 years but wasn't very good, there are far worse ways to make money though. He had no experience coaching college, so I don't think he realized how much different coaching college is from coaching NBA; college coaches don't really have an off season. Nothing malicious on his part but just further highlights it was a bad hire. Plus he's in his 60s and semi retired so he doesn't put as much into it as he needs to.

Seems like it be difficult to get less serious than hiring a guy simply because he played here over 40 years ago.

If anyone could serve as a get right game for them, it'd be IU.

Makes sense, would explain the complete lack of outside shooters. Should be a lot better at rebounding though.

I've said it before, if you're supposed to be a bridge guy and the program has to be rebuilt after year 3 then you do not deserve year 4. A bridge guy having to rebuild after year 3 means he completely screwed up his handling of the program.

Duke wasn't really "Duke" back then either. They'd had some success if/when they made the tournament but the lion's share of their history came with Coach K at the helm.

The same Scott Dolson got taken behind the woodshed and beaten like a rented mule by Allen's agent.

And other franchises thought so much of his coaching ability they never gave him another shot after 2014.

That just tells me we probably don't want to see his garage.

Unfortunately he's forgotten some pretty important things too, like boxing out.

Penn State and Northwestern think he's doing a fantastic job at that.

He thinks he can teach the game and we're so bad at some pretty basic parts of the game. I'm scared.

He wasn't consistent even before the injury. Even more of a reason not to count on him.

Is anyone surprised that Woodson would be brought back no matter what? IU showed they were deeply unserious when he was hired; and the way this program has been run the last 20 years we know they wouldn't want to look mean and take the black eye of firing a program legend. It's been run so poorly it wouldn't be a shock if they were actively trying to kill it; keeping Woodson would be a step in that direction, then self report something stupid the NCAA couldn't care less about and give a self imposed death penalty, we certainly have experience with that one.
